DeadleSinz 0 Posted January 21, 2002 I have having a disorted / scratchy noise only when playing OFP. I am currently running XP and SBLIVE anyone else have a solution to this issue.
Mister Frag 0 Posted January 21, 2002 I'm using a SoundBlaster Live! under Windows XP with the latest drivers available from the Creative Labs website, and I have no problems whatsoever -- I've got full hardware acceleration and EAX enabled. Have you checked the CL website to see if you have the latest WHQL-certified drivers?

You may want to get the new drivers and try it.
BabaZed 1 Posted January 23, 2002 I'm using sound blaster live 5.1 under win2k and i get this crackle prob with or without EAX and acceleration, so i just been to update the drivers from CL (SBLiveXPDrvUpdate), ive give it a good testing (with and without EAX/acceleration) and i'm still getting the crackle its just that putting EAX on makes it a little less obvious. However i only get crackle with certain vehicles ie. Jeeps at low revs, tanx, and uh60 choppa it seems that its the low frequency sounds i have trouble with, this doesnt happen on any other game as ive noticed but then again with me being hopelessly addicted to OFP i dont really see much else. A very strange problem because since owning OFP the day it came out ive had these damn crackles, but whats even weirder is when i first got the game i was running a Yamaha crappy soundcard under winME, then i got a soundblaster live and it still happened so i got that turtle beach soundcard (Å80 approx) it still happened, and now im running a soundblaster live 5.1 under win2k with new hard drive (and ALL relevant updates) and it STILL happens. -------------------------------------------- o/s Win2k VIA motherboard (latest 4in1 adapters) installed pIII gig 256 ram geforce2 3d prophet gts 32mb Soundblasterlive 5.1 512k cable modem (terayon), through ethernet (realtek) 10mbps
WKK Gimbal 0 Posted January 23, 2002 One way to get around this problem, until it's fixed (by either CL or BIS or whoever): When you have boarded a vehicle and start to speed up, the scrackling should begin. Then swap your viewmode from 1st person to 3rd person and back. That should fix the sound for your current ride. This is necessary each time you get into a new vehicle, but atleast your eardrums won't explode!
BigUzi=WoP= 1 Posted January 23, 2002 download the dx applet, some ofp sites have it as a down load and install in your windows systems folder. then a dx icon should appear in control panel. go into the programme, go to sound tab and move the debug slide control over to the left. this cured it for me
Placebo 29 Posted January 23, 2002 Doubling the PCI Latency setting in the BIOS fixed it for me.
