j w 0 Posted February 16, 2006 OK, how about this one? Asus GeForce 6600 256MB Silencer TV-Out / DVi (PCI-E) Not the LE version, just 6600. Better?
EiZei 0 Posted February 16, 2006 OK, how about this one?Asus GeForce 6600 256MB Silencer TV-Out / DVi (PCI-E) Not the LE version, just 6600. Better? Like I said, the GT6600 (the difference between regular 6600 and GT is bigger than you probably think) would be the lowest common denominator in my opinion. Hell, i'd go with something even more powerful than that if I had the money.
j w 0 Posted February 16, 2006 But, just beacause the GT6600 is better then the 6600LE, doesn't mean that the 6600LE is crap. In that case I can buy a radeon 9200 instead, if the 6600LE is crap. And that's not the situation right? I just wanted everyone two know, even if you gamers think; even if you don't have 300€, buy a graphiccard for that anyways. My budget stays at around 100€. Buying one of the 9200 or FX5200 series is just plain stupidity... But I'll have to think it over, and see how much money I can get. Thanks anyways.
j w 0 Posted February 17, 2006 How about this: 450W PSU AMD Athlon 3200+ 640KB s-939 2Ghz (Venice) 1024MB RAM (1024x1) Asus GeForce 6600gt/TD 256MB (EN6600GT/HTD/256M) - TV-Ut / DVi (PCI-E) (Core 500Mhz, Memory speed, 1Ghz (500 x 2) RAMDAC 400Mhz) A bit lower cost, but with better graphiccard. How about that?
JdB 151 Posted February 17, 2006 Quote[/b] ]300W silent PSU 300W means awfully low power, 400-500W is normal now a days.
j w 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Heh, yeah, a friend told me that his PIII had 300W and it wasn't enough, so I changed it to 450W. Actually cheaper, though 12db louder. But, what the hell.
EiZei 0 Posted February 18, 2006 Depends a lot on the manufacturer, id rather a 300W quality PSU over some chinese cheap POS "450W" PSU anyday.
Mr_Tea 0 Posted February 18, 2006 300W wouldn`t be enough, GeForce cards needs more power. It would be enough if use only one HDD and one optical drive, maybe. If you don`t want that your new PC enlight itself, give him more power.
uberkayser 0 Posted February 19, 2006 I used to run a 6600GT with a cruddy 300w psu, mind you the ampage on the 12v rail was pretty stable.6600le will probably ship with 4 pixel pipes as opposed to the 8 in a 6600 and 6600 gt...unless you very lucky and get one of the earlier models it probably wont unlock to a 6600.Having had the GT i can say it good for a less expensive card, great overclocker if you add a decent HSF,good one with stock fan, plays all new games on medium settings no problem...definitely worth paying the bit extra for over the 6600/le.Look at this..Å88 for a 6600gt..dunno what shipping to Sverige will be tho' http://www.overclockers.co.uk/acatalog/6600_Series.html

j w 0 Posted March 2, 2006 Okey dokey, final list: (Remeber, on budget, don't suggest 2GB RAM, Raptor-drives, 7800GTS etc) MoBo: Asrock - Socket 939 - MATX SIS756 (939S56-M) - PCI-E / Lan Processor: AMD Athlon 64 3700+ 2,2GHz / 1024KB Socket 939 (Box) (90nm) (Rev E4) (San Diego) PSU: Q-Tec PowerSupply (PSU) ATX 450W Dual Fan Gold DDR: 512MB PC3200 400Mhz NoName GFX:Asus ATI Radeon X1300PRO 256MB (EAX1300PRO/TD/256M) - DVI / TV-Out (PCI-E) (Engine clock: 600Mhz, MemClock: 800Mhz (400x2), RAMDAC: 400Mhz) Extra DDR: 256MB SDRAM (running at 100Mhz, the slowest of em all, but the more the marrier) Not the best machine on earth. Not the worst either Any opinions? BTW; Probably won't go up with the price anymore...
NeMeSiS 11 Posted March 2, 2006 Extra DDR: 256MB SDRAM (running at 100Mhz, the slowest of em all, but the more the marrier)Not the best machine on earth. Not the worst either If you put 2 types of ram in your PC the fastest type will run as fast as the slowest type. (well, maybe they changed it, but it used to be like that AFAIK)
j w 0 Posted March 2, 2006 You can change that trough BIOS afaik. I can do that on this comp I'm at right now, also at another one (with different MoBo/BIOS) so it should work. If not, I'll just have the PC3200 memstick.
EiZei 0 Posted March 2, 2006 You can of course change the speed setting from the bios, but unless the memory stick is something very special you will very severe stability problems or just fry the damn thing outright. And as for the amount of memory.. well, I have 1GB of it and games like battlefield 2 can eat that up easily.
berghoff 11 Posted March 2, 2006 Whoa, nice CPU but I don't know about the X1300pro, it got all the new shaders but fast? I think you're better off buying an 9800pro or XT (128mb or 256mb). Ok, my bad I see you've PCI-e.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 2, 2006 Man, get 1 gig of ram instead of 512 plus the SD ram PLEASE!
JdB 151 Posted March 2, 2006 There are times when a pc can get under (any sane) budget too. By making the changes you plan you will take all the advantage out of the new system and practically make it an old one. Also: SD RAM: DDR RAM: That ain't gonna fit I'm afraid.
j w 0 Posted March 3, 2006 @BergHoff: Suits my budget, and it's not the worst on the market so I'm satisfied. @Espectro: After a while I will buy a 1GB stick, so I will have 1,5GB RAM. Just don't have the money right now. (Very thight budget) @JdB: Yes it does. Atleast I think it does, since those little "cuts" goes together, it should work... @EiZei: I don't play BF2 Or? Anyways, this is gonna be my comp as it looks like, ATM. I can allways upgrade, that's why I took a strong CPU to start with.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 4, 2006 Im going to buy a new computer as well - but I aint computer expert either. Its not going to be a budget computer, and I have put together these things: http://www.shg.dk/kundecenter/cart_ext.asp?id=AOIDG672A7 Please comment on them - if any1 have any experience or info of them its very much appreciated. I am going to use it both as a mediecenter and as my computer (hence projecter and monitor). It should be able to run newer games just fine.
JdB 151 Posted March 4, 2006 Don't you need a CPU? (as it is not on the list) Apart from that the choices for Mainboard, memory, GPU are excellent, but why no S-ATA HDD? The difference in performance is pretty big.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted March 4, 2006 I didnt even know there was something called s-ata HD... can it fit on that mainboard? I was thinking about this cpu: Athlon64 4000+, 2.4 GHz, 1MB Cache Cache, San Diego, Socket 939, BOX http://www.shg.dk/link.asp?goto=infobox&varenr=320935 Or should I get an X2? And do I need a cooler for that cpu? Or does box mean that its allready included?
Sniperwolf572 758 Posted March 4, 2006 Box means that stock cooler comes with it. Altough I recommend you get yourself a different one, I have an Glacialtech Igloo 7200 and it serves me well, altough Zalmans are the best out there AFAIK.
JdB 151 Posted March 4, 2006 I didnt even know there was something called s-ata HD... can it fit on that mainboard?I was thinking about this cpu: Athlon64 4000+, 2.4 GHz, 1MB Cache Cache, San Diego, Socket 939, BOX As the description says: Quote[/b] ]AN8 SLI, nVidia nForce4 SLI, Socket 939, 8 Channel Surround, SLI Dual PCI-E VGA, GLAN, Firewire, SATAII RAID, Dual DDR400 Would be a shame to buy fast components and slow the entire pc down with the HDD. CPU looks fine, although you should check if the mainboard supports it (not just talking about socket). I misread the mainboard info and thought you had selected an ASUS mainboard instead of an Abit one. Alot of people I know in real life prefer ASUS because they just work well for them. But it's a personal preference of course.
