killagee 0 Posted January 26, 2006 Hey all I got my new Dell Laptop. Its awesome, and leaves my desktop for dead. Unfortunately It wont play OFP. I get the screen flashing in and out of game, then a warning message saying it cant work out the screen resolution when i start the game... Does anybody know of any problem with the 128mb Radeon X300 mobile graphics card? Cheers P.S. I did a search but there doesnt seem to be much about this card here... ade_mcc 0 Posted January 26, 2006 I had a quick look at a couple of reviews Example The example above showing reasonable performance on the following games: Unreal Tournament 2004 Splinter Cell: Chaos Theory Chronicles of Riddick: Escape From Butcher's Bay Far Cry Half-Life 2 D3D RightMark ShaderMark 2 First thought is a driver issue Have you the latest/optimum drivers? Do other games new/older work? Incidently, what screen resolution are you trying to run OFP at? This bit suprises me as OFP is not normally at all fussy about resolution. redface 1 Posted January 26, 2006 if the computer has widescreen (15,4'' or 17'' ), you may need to change the userprofile.cfg manually (I entered something like 1440x900 on my laptop, there's a topic about it on these forums) you can try, but most likely this won't be the cause of your problem. the standard BIS resolutions only distort the proportions slightly, they don't cause crashes. redface 1 Posted January 27, 2006 do other games function? maybe the video card itself is physically damaged. Better be quick, because there's a 30 days free fetch-and-return policy on all DELL computers (even if you didn't opt for on-site support). simply get on the phone and they will guide you through some tests they delivered a new hard drive for me (for free) because the one inserted was damaged upon arrival
Placebo 31 Posted January 27, 2006 I'm getting D3d Out of video memory errors. I doesnt matter what resolution i try... Are you using -nomap? The "out of memory" error is very common and searching finds the solution.
