klavan 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Hi all. I'm currently working on a map of the area of Umm Qasr but i need some help. I'm using google earth as main image source but as you can see from the image below the areas sorroundig the city are still at low-res quality. I wonder if anyone already have an image of better quality of the area circled by the red sign in his hd and if he would be nice enough to share it..... Thank you very much in advance. klavan 0 Posted January 9, 2006 Thank you sven, the map you've posted is nice, but what i would need is an image showing what kind of buildings are present in that area. Messiah 2 Posted January 9, 2006 i was about to say that google earth recently had an update with new hi res areas added, but that wasnt one of them... i'd say you may be out of luck, as google earth would be the only wide scale, free satelite picture service - unless you find someone in the military, happy to scan area photos (i.e. pilots) they were given... doubtful tho Share this post Link to post Share on other sites

I wonder how Galileo could help him in any way - of course, if he's going there himself to map the area manually then it would come in handy! Since usefull addons both for middle eastern and industrial buildings are still quite limited in number and type for OFP there's nothing much to do about this aspect of the problem apart using a bit of fantasy for the urban environmental details. The map provided by sven save me from the nightmare of totally creating the road system from zero and that's good, now i need only to know what kind of buildings are placed in that area and then i'm ok......but i think Messiah is right. klavan 0 Posted January 10, 2006 What's your opinion about these buildings? It's a base? A refinery? A touristic resort? An hospital? On the upper right it's possible too see you can play tennis there but on the lower left there's a building with white roof and the word "U N" (United Nations I suppose) painted on it. However, by looking at nation bordes (i was confused by this point, since i wasn't sure if the border was marked by the pipeline or by the ditch reported on the maps) it should be a sort of border post/custom house.
