Coyote Commander 0 Posted January 6, 2006 @Cleo I'm very impressed . I've tried to do some stuff on my own, without any success. If you need some help or advice on technical issues, I'm a serving member in the CF. Cheers, CC
CanadianTerror 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Don't forget to add the the maple syrup holder and Tim Horton's coffee receptacle when you do the vest. Â Lowland's Warrior has a nifty C7 pack btw. Â Operation NorthStar has troops already made if you want to check them out.
Coyote Commander 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Just a friendly thought, could you possibly add some scrim or a net to the helmet...or some goggles. You hardly ever see anyone outside of basic training without something on their helmets. I know there was some pretty good scrim in the US ACU Soldier pack beta. miss_cleo 0 Posted January 7, 2006 i am a fan of the northstar troops... i was inspired to do this after dusting them off the other day....
miss_cleo 0 Posted January 7, 2006 here's the tactical vest.... keep in mind that the vest textures are still WIP.
belgerot 33 Posted January 7, 2006 Glad to see some modern day Canadian troops, nice progress so far
Wick_105 0 Posted January 7, 2006 if you want some more close up picks of the vest I got mine sitting right here next to my desk....as well as my helmet...and well all my kit....just drop me a PM and I'll get the pics to you. nice work I as well have tried to do this but I'm better at howitzers than LBV's
Connors 0 Posted January 7, 2006 looks nice (i say this without being qualified as a modder of any sort what so ever)
Abs_01 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Excellent work! Just a quick comment...this was actually discussed in the Northstar forums quite a while ago, and I think it bears repeating here. While the CADPAT may actually match the colour of the reference pictures, ONS decided to make the textures darker, so that it would suit the OFP environment more. It's just a suggestion. Truth be told, I'm just happy to have any kind of up-to-date Canadian troops! Thanks a lot, Miss Cleo! Abs PS: Will you stick with this version of Llauma's head, or do you plan on switching it over to the newest one that they're working on?
LoTekK 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Well this is looking promising. Textures need light and shadow info, but it's a nice start, and the LBV looks promising.
CanadianTerror 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Quote[/b] ]ONS decided to make the textures darker, so that it would suit the OFP environment more. The newer non released version (back then) didnt even look like cadpat at all. It didnt even look digital. I wouldnt go messing the way it looks too much just to suit the enviroment. The pics above look closer, if anything it looks like it needs more black in it to calm down the brightness level. Example Another example...more black throughout Now THIS is cool... fubar_diver 0 Posted January 7, 2006 dunno how i missed this, the model looks awesome, would love to see some arctic troops in the winter CADPAT that CT showed.
Coyote Commander 0 Posted January 7, 2006 Just a small detail, but could we see the bayonet and scabbard placed on the tac vest. It goes right in the middle, along the sternum.
miss_cleo 0 Posted January 8, 2006 yeah... i just have to make one.
offtime 0 Posted January 8, 2006 nice units :-) all tho i would sugest desaturating colors a bit like 20-30 or something like that in my opinion green is just too green, and camo wont work propertly in game the rest is realy good work :-)
AKM 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Unfortunately that's how CADPAT is. It's usually too dark (Fresh issue) or too light (After fading.) The sweet spot is somewheres in the middle. Of course, Murphey's Law dictates that you'll only blend with your surroundings in the training field and that period shall not exceed 30 days in duration. CADPAT/AR on the other hand, doesn't have this problem.
Coyote Commander 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Like AKM said, its not uncommon to have three different shades of CADPAT between your pants, shirt, and tactical vest. Its just the way things go, but I support the faded textures. If they're too fresh-looking, the troops look like recruits not combat soldiers.
Nordwind 0 Posted January 8, 2006 Excellent work! I've been waiting far too long for a new canadian soldier pack! Keep it up!

supasheep 0 Posted January 12, 2006 Hmm... nice screens. I thought the Operation Northstar Mod is ...dead, or somethink else? Nevermind.
AKM 0 Posted January 12, 2006 I don't want to speak for the author, but ONS is inactive, apparently since their death has been denied by members of the modteam in the recent past. The author would appear to be conducting this effort independantly of Operation NorthStar.
