An Najaf map beta release

Wah... The map is very good, but... totally unplayable. The fps kills the gameplay. [even with viewdistance 150, and only 30-40 units on the map]

I just ran at 1300 viewdistance with 8 aircraft and about 100 personel and vehicles all AI movers!

ran well, bit laggy but not too much!

I haven't had any lag what so ever yet only when on chopper toward city, and its only minor.

Ya Jones...kinda hard to feel sorry for ya ...when ya look at my PC stats.

And I tested it as well..

30-40 units is pretty good though....a good mission maker can spawn units to eliminate some lag...

Good to know though that most people are OK

I would like to ask all you guys to make some really nice screenshots and maybee place them into the combat photo thread???

Ive been making soo many shots that Ive become curious as to what all you guys can think of!

I have to say this is one of the best looking city-maps for OFP.

However, that being said, I get horrible framerates in the city itself.

I have a 3GHz P4/1 GB RAM/6800GT and OFP lags horrible - and yes, I know it's just the engine!

My system - Windows XP.

... my pc: PIV 2,4 Ghz, 512 MB Ram, GF4Mx440 128 MB... [i know, old card, but ofp runs on older ones...]

The GeForce4 MX generation is not the fastest, another 512MB RAM would help too. I had a GeForce 4MX myself, after upgrading to an GeForce4 TI4200 OFP worked much better.

I have a 2,9 ghz PC with a GeForce 6200 Turbocache and 1024 mb RAM, and I get lag even with a small number of units.... crazy_o.gif

About 15-20 units + one USMC Humvee... But I have 2X AA and 4X AF...

This is a great place for my mission but the lag kills my computer.

I get around 15 fps with

500 viewdistance

Terrain detail very low.

Visual quality around 8 or so

And with the usual settings it's totally unplayable.

*i had only 8 units on map:

LAV-25 (3 men)

Marine team 5 ore so men

*on the 2nd attempt i lost the AH-1W body. crazy_o.gif it just didn't appear.

looking forward for update as i got some plans for this map. wink_o.gif :

if you want city fights but this lags thy DMA Libya, a few citys etc for urband fights

Thanks guys...i'll do my best.

Workin on the surrounding terrain and trying to get it to match the real maps as well as possible.

Got someone whos woking on better "grave stone" models that are way closer to the ones seen in that giant cemetary.

About the lag...dont know if it will get any better...but i'll limit the amount of enterable buildings and that should keep it a bit lower.....I hope.... huh.gif

Ah well a least it will be a pretty good sim of the real area when its done....

I dont know why some people get so much lag. The map is working fine for me, with many infantry and single jeep patrols in the city.

My PC: AMD AthlonXP 3200+, 2x512MB DDR400Ram @ Dualchannel, GeForce 6600GT with 128MB Ram.

My resolution 1920x1200@72Hz. Viewdistance is 1200 meters minimum or higher for flying, terraindetail normal, other settings high.

How do we get the special animations to work - ie lights or something else mentioned?

ALso in loading up the map i get the error message Error loading afgobj\adom2.p3d (magic)

The map still works however

For the Afgan everon map download I noted there is another download for afganaddons objects or something?

Is that what im missing?

A note on the airport for future reference - directly behind the airport terminal building there is no protecting fence in that area

one need to be placed for future else they can walk in through the back door smile_o.gif

The addon I think ya need is the Afgan Island addon by I think.....Crazy soldier....anyway look up earlier in this post and ya can find the addons list....

Hope this help...

BTW- The lights arre under the "Game Logic" title when ya place a unit in the editor. Should be somethin similar to...An NAjaf RWlights, or sim.

There two one for RWlights and one for the Mapfact animations....

I was wondering whats going on because i've tried a few missions myself.....2 CBT APC's, 2 Mg's placed on roof tops, 1 US squad, and three Insurgent squads.

And I get lag but not enough to stop me from completing the map.

And once again......I'm running... help.gifband.gifbanghead.gif

PIII (Yep that's 3) 450 mhz

390 or so MB of RAM (Old RAM!!wink_o.gif

ATI Soundblaster live

So something must be up if the monster machines are lagging cause I thought for sure you lucky guys would have no problems... huh.gifhuh.gif
