Mi - 8 pack v 1.0 relased

Recommended Posts

icon_rolleyes.gif now what did I post underneath....?

Im talking about IMPROVING the mi-2! Up to standards with the modern day Mi-8, Mi-26, and other hinds!

Also maybee making the CIA version of the Mi-8 that is used in afghanistan would be cool. then you can have a mi-8 under west. It also operates without the backdoors which gives another view from riding in the back!

Or a Mi-2 which would also be very cool! wow_o.gif >> SF insertions!

Yes I know there are some mi-2 addons! smile_o.gifwink_o.gif

not to be offensive or ignorant, but that hardly showed me that you knew there was a OWP Mi2 and that you actually wanted it improving...

means nothing in relation to that whistle.gif

I'd like to know, what is the poly count/face count on this beast? PBOx/UnPBO won't even allow me to decompress it.

You can use mikepbo from ofpec.com editors page(pending)!

hamis - perhaps, but i'd like to wait and see RHS's Mi24 before wondering about OWP - of course, whatever the result of RHS's release is, shouldnt affect their decision to make the Mi24 or not, but i'd much rather see an Mi2 update, just because of how much i like that little thing

Just like to add that this is priceless, thought Mi26 was impossible to beat but i can only imagine if the whole OPF game was made in OWP standards crazy_o.gif .

These addons deserve a campaign, incredible wow_o.gif .

Again, big thanks to you guys for the amazing gifts xmas_o.gif .

Guest RKSL-Rock

I tell you what i was hoping for next was a KA-27/29/32. I started modelling one a few years ago but couldnt ever find any really good reference material for the internal layout.

Any chance?

I asked about the KA-27/28/29s already. Their readme says they're going to work on more Mi-8s and/or -17s first.

there already was a KA-27 made by VIT.  Have you guys seen it?

Frankly, im not intrusted in this kind of helicopter though.

I think OWP should work on something more popular.

I like the KA-60 wink_o.gif.

Yeah, its was a Vit conversion of someone else model...not exactly the same standard as the OWP Hips though

In this thread? I must have missed it. You never know the more people ask... wink_o.giftounge2.gif

The KA27/29/32 is still widely used, i think its something that should be made. Its (almost) the Soviet equivalent of the Littlebirds in some of its roles.

Well, they take alot of time, months, years in the making, do you remember this thread?

Addon makers are cautious about big projects because of Arma i think confused_o.gif .

Current RHS Signature Picture

they're using scar's hinds - check the signature yourself, you can clearly see the silhouette of an Mi-24

I might take the chance to point that the tail rotor sound appears to "loop" strangely sometimes, it works better on Mi-26 smile_o.gif .

OK so here's my question :

I am working on an MI-8 training map for my squad, which includes evacuating an under fire infantry section, transporting a general, and responding to various aircraft malfunctions (fuel leak, engine failure, etc)

The 3 players (2 trainees and 1 instructor) are the ® Pilot from the pack (they are helmet and headgearless)

What I want is that whilst the trainees are in a chopper, they can only communicate if they put on either headgear or helmet (we'll say helmet for simplicity's sake)

I thought about

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">pilotname addAction ["Put on flight helmet", "\OWP_Crew\helmetin.sqs"]

But I get

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">'_this playmove "OWPHelmetIn"|#|': Error playmove: Type Array, expected Object

and

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">'_this SetObjectTexture [1,""]|#|': Error setobjecttexture: Type Array, expected Object

When I try this.

In the OWP_Crew readme it says that to make a unit put on the helmet you have to put

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">unit_name exec "\OWP_Crew\helmetin.sqs"

In their init box

Something else I would like to do in the mission is to give the instructor the ability to inflict various malfunctions on the trainees aircraft to train them in responding to them.

The way I have done this is by doing it with radio triggers, and it works fine, but it only works once. I.E once the malfunction has been inflicted, that malfunction disappears

Here's an example of what I have in the On Activation box of one of the radio triggers:

<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">[red1,0.9,["fuel"]] exec "\OWP_MI8\scripts\owp_movie_dammage.sqs"

red1 being the name of the chopper affected, 0.9 being the degree of severity of the malfunction and ["fuel"] being the malfunction.

Now what I wanted to do, was to, instead of using radio triggers, enable this action to be performed from the action menu of the instructor (named pilot1) and to add an action, you put

PlayerName addAction ["description of action","actionscript.sqs"]

Correct?

Well the command to initiate the malfunction already has a name defined, and there are brackets all over the place so I gotta say, I'm lost huh.gif

Could anyone give me a hand on this? thumbs-up.gif

P.S. Mods, I wan't sure whether this belonged in mission editing or the actual OWP MI-8 thread, so I'll post it in both, because I'd really like a response to this

EDIT; scratch the helmet question, I just read in the readme

Quote[/b] ]-When (in MP) trying play animation with helmet put in\off, it may crash dedicated server.
