bravo 6 0 Posted May 6, 2006 Last night i was playing a coop mission in tonal's city. It was a guerrilla fight in city. I went prone looking trough a small and tight alley and there was a soldier really next to me (2m) after that alley. He started to fire and i couldn't escape or return fire faster because i was dependent on the ofp slow movements. If i was able to roll over to my right/left side i would survive. Would be nice if we in ARMA could do that. (dunno how this could work for AIs ) .: Roll over to sides in order to escape faster.

Hope they included it in ArmA as well.
bravo 6 0 Posted May 6, 2006 thx, can AIs do the same? If yes, how they look like doing it?

Blanco 0 Posted May 6, 2006 - An UNDO button in the editor! - Inaccessible regions like cliffs, it's stupid you can still climb these in OFP without any gear. - Much much much much much much much much much more cover - Camera.sqs with more control and with a record option - Transition effects in cutscenes, maybe via commands so we can create our own effects
CsonkaPityu 0 Posted May 6, 2006 Rolling? What the..? Try rolling with a rifle i your hand, a helmet on your head and a vest on your torso... or just 5 kilo weight in your hands. No rolling, or any other arcade stuff please...
kernriver 4 Posted May 6, 2006 This has just crossed my mind. In RL, AK-47 has three modes (can't find a better word): 1.locked 2.single shot fire 3.automatic fire. However, in OFP there is a burst mode. Short bursts (3-5 bullets) are possible if you set it on automatic fire mode and you control it yourself, you just stop pulling the trigger after a few shots are being fired. It was always bugging me, why did BIS put it in a game. I've never used it (burst mode, i mean); if i want short bursts i just do what i described. I wish BIS would leave out this "burst fire mode". It makes changing fire modes a little annoying, for me atleast. Edit: Last night i was playing a coop mission in tonal's city. It was a guerrilla fight in city. Hehe, last night i fooled around with some CTI mission. I'm always amazed with the fact that people are still playing a 5year old game with the same passion as when the game was released. I think BIS deserves this kind of community, and the community deserves a developer like BIS
Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 6, 2006 It was in the game so that the AI would be able to fire bursts. (My theory). This is fixed in Elite. AI will still fire bursts, but if you pick up any AK it will have two modes; Single & auto. Problem solved

bravo 6 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Rolling? What the..? Try rolling with a rifle i your hand, a helmet on your head and a vest on your torso... or just 5 kilo weight in your hands. No rolling, or any other arcade stuff please... well that make sense though.. Your right in some way.. But not every time we are using heavy weapons or carrying too much weight. This fast movements i told could depend on the weight soldier carry
bravo 6 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Sorry to add 2 posts, glued to each other.. but i couldn't resist. Was stronger then me. With this game i lose my temper.. (BIS FAULT ) I know that what im about to say might not to be in arma but, i rader say it anyway, maybe BIS change their mind Would be nice to see watter falls. North part of Sahrani seems to have lots of cliffs as we can check by the terrain level, i was hoping to see some natural watter falls, the effect would be extremely impressive (ill dream about it ) edit enlarge Ps- Ti0n3r pic. Chunder 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Waterways. Rivers & Streams. So we can use the APC features and have tactical problems on the battlefield.
Baphomet 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Quote[/b] ]you'll need it when the 2048 X 2048 / 5000 poly community stuff is done Yeah it'd be so much more hilarious if it wasn't a joke.

Chunder 0 Posted May 7, 2006 Almost forgot too... Rocky Escarpments with deep revines that you can fall down and die in =-p and other limited access areas apart from islands, little wild animal trails that go through forests that you can go follow through some dangerous areas of limited mobility like swamps and other muddy areas. CsonkaPityu 0 Posted May 7, 2006 I think rolling is not so unrealistic. If it ment your life, i bet you would roll with an elephant on your back... I would dive for cover personally. Try rolling sideways, rightnow if you have enough room, it's not as easy as GTA: San Andreas makes it look like and seems to be a lot slower then simply hitting the dirt in a direction. But i agree, that somekind of faster cover seeking animation is needed, it's bad when you can only sidestep slowly when your virtual life is at stake. Maybe BIS could make a "high-adrenaline" set of animation, something that gets triggered only by contact with the enemy or scripts. You know you are using the typical "aware" animations, with the slow going prone animations and all that, but if your squad sees an enemy or is "under fire" you automatically switch to a set of faster anims? I don't mean faster movement speed but faster lying down and maybe some other life saver anims that have shift-d/a controls. Dunno its just an idea.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 7, 2006 I'd like to see correct, milspec gear on the original BIS models. I don't know what the OTVs the US guys are wearing are, but they sure as hell aren't Interceptors. And if the BDU vests aren't replaced by ACU ones soon... let's just say I'm going to be cracking open game files before I've finished the campaign!
Guest Ti0n3r Posted May 7, 2006 I hope there will be a radio command like "Contact, NW" etc...
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 7, 2006 Also, I'd like to see some AI speaking off the bat. Probably not going to happen, but it would be nice for the AI to have a chat when in safe or careless mode (if these exist in AA). Kind of ECP-like, but integrated into the engine.
bravo 6 0 Posted May 7, 2006 would be nice indeed. Like ECP but only when they are in safe mode or so..
Feliks 0 Posted May 8, 2006 I really hope there's an epic 'escape and evade' type of mission, like After Montignac (OFP's finest moment, IMHO). It probably won't be in the game, but I looove mountain biking, so maybe someone will make an addon Montague Paratrooper folding MTB, for covert operations, as used by the USMC! Imagine tear-assing around Sahrani on that bad boy.
CameronMcDonald 146 Posted May 8, 2006 I reckon there'll at least be a bike, even if it's not a USMC one.
KAOSInc 0 Posted May 8, 2006 What I would love to see is grappling hooks! Yes I do play BF2:Special Forces and like to get good vantage points like on hotel verandahs......get up...scout...fire....drop...repeat!

I don't mean faster movement speed but faster lying down and maybe some other life saver anims that have shift-d/a controls. Dunno its just an idea. Not a bad idea at all. BIS would have to add a few more animations to make it work: 1. go prone, 2. stand up, 3. strafe left (standing up and in the prone possition), 4. strafe right (standing up and in the prone possition). All in all, 6 new animations. I guess these would do the trick. Now, triggering them is another story that my knowledge of programming is just not ready to cope Edit: Of course, faster strafing would have an impact on your aiming ability, something like sprinting or fast crawling, atleast in the prone position.
