Serclaes 0 Posted March 23, 2006 AFAIK a .zip compressed, uncompressed PBO is smaller than a compressed .zip with a compressed PBO. (think T D told me that once...). And PBO compression leads sometimes to missing letters I prefer uncompressed PBO's honestly, even if i have a rather small HD.
ProfTournesol 956 Posted March 23, 2006 @ Serclaes : i was just saying that to save place in Wh40k mod folder, to avoid OFP addon's limit (and crash).
spad 64 Posted March 23, 2006 what do you mean proft if i am using binarize? for the moment the wh40k addon folder is 430 meg (not binarize) and i don't have the map and campaign...
SPQR 0 Posted March 23, 2006 I currently have 485Mo of addons in my WH40K folder (mostly uncompressed addons for faster testing during cpp writing), often associated with my Military folder (objects, 54.2Mo), Islands folder (Hi-res maps, 255Mo), MyHiSky folder (265Mo) and GMR exploMOD folder (very very big, 1.4Mo ), with no real problems. But Spad still has some addons I don't have. @ UKSubmariner Are you writing about the first WH40K mod Tau beta ? If so, this "beta" was very very incomplete. More an alpha than a beta. Otherwise, in GW's WH40K world, the Tau Devilfish APC is a single-crew AFV armed with a movable chin-turret. All of our turreted AFVs should have their own traverse and elevation angles according to FW's data (IA 01, 02 and 03) when defined. Because in the current state, we don't manage well (or rather not at all ) multi-turret script, the laser cannon/heavy bolter will function as a turret weapon. And I'm wonderiung about doing the same for the Land Raiders as last solution. @ Warden Quote[/b] ]I fear not the Wrath of your Corpse god. You should I've received this morning my IA 01 and 02. Imperial Armour volume 01, page 52 (Leman Russ Exterminator) : Quote[/b] ]... following hull-mounted weapons : lascannon at +15 pts; heavy bolter at +5 pts. The only sponson upgrade possible is the heavy bolter (pair +10 pts) DIE, XENO, DIEEEEE A good spanking and everything will be fine @ wolfbite Are you writing about the Mars pattern Exterminator, while Spad's, I supposed, is a Gryphonne IV pattern Ext ? @ Timblesink Quote[/b] ]If you put dirt on the infantry's boots and the tank treads, that'd look cool... Texturing isn't Spad's expertise field, even if he made progresses. Moreover aren't there things more urgent to be done before ? Anyway, keep your idea for later Quote[/b] ]Well, it was really cool how every type of soldier had different anims... and it would look so good if the marines had proper leg spacing. Usually, if the marines did have proper leg spacing, it would make the IG and Tau look silly with their legs twice their shoulder width, but with different anim sets for each unit, it would work. An animator, my Kingdom for an animator ! @ mr. WHO A Warlord, what would be the use of such a heavy Titan except in 10.000 points games, something big enough to be unmanageable in and by OFP (except, maybe, by NASA computers). Our Warhound already costs, in GW TT terms, 810 points. Moreover, the Tau Manta is oversized and overpowerfull compared to the poor warhound. Things should perhaps stayed scaled @ snowballrules The Thunderhawk is far from behind advanced, and is flying like an anvil that no one could be able to pilot. Compared to the Thunderhawk, OW's Mil Mi-26 is really nimble.
Warden 0 Posted March 24, 2006 SPQR The Devilfish is a 3 firecaste crew, driver, gunner and Commander, IA3 (when you get it) will tell you this.
SPQR 0 Posted March 24, 2006 You are mixing up the Devilfish Troop Carrier with the Hammerhead Gunship, which is the sole 3-crew vehicle with the Orca Dropship (1 Air caste pilot along 2 Fire caste operators). The Sky Ray Missile Defense Ship, a variation of the Hammerhead has only two crewmen from the Fire caste. IA 03 was the first of the 3 books I acquired from FW..., and I'll be one of the first to buy the 04, Amphelion Project  Eat lead, Xeno
Warden 0 Posted March 24, 2006 Balls, your right... I still don't fear your Corpse god though! (And i can tell you its shaping up to be a great book, the New Red Scorpions models are some of the Best sculpts wheve done)
SPQR 0 Posted March 24, 2006 I'm also wondering what would be the new fighting machines of the Imperium, not just the Red Scorpions, the Amphelion base, the Phaeton pattern defence platform and Sabre defense plateforms. Probably the Hellhounds (Artemia and Graia patterns) and some RS new babies But I miss the eldars the most

Marco.A.Aguilar1 0 Posted March 24, 2006 To Tolderian: I read and respect your post. Not many people stay dedicated to games, much less mods for over six years. To answer your question, I have been out of the OFP community since 2002 and I am still catching up on all the great add-ons and mods. I don't think there would be a sci-fi OFP specific fan-site. You will probably find all the sci-fi downloads catagorized with all the other downloads for OFP. Add-on or Mods.

Tolderian 0 Posted March 25, 2006 Thanks for your post Aguilar, I appreciate it. I've checked the sci-fi site and only found the tie fighters and the cadians, and the cadians don't work for me unfortunately. It installed to me Res/Addons folder and I tried adding it to my regular addons folder, but no dice... which I don't understand since all the other hundreds of addons I have seem to work, well... most of them at least. To the community though, I hope I can learn and assist this project along, I know what it's like to start something and not have enough assistance or resources at hand
