Out of reserved memory

Recommended Posts

Like the topic title says: Everytime I try to start a mission (including the campaigns) OPF crashes to the desktop and shows the following error message:

error.JPG

I've tried -nomap with no success as you can see on this image:

I have Operation Flashpoint GOTY patched to 1.96. The only mod I have installed atm is the dxdll, but with or without it I have the same problem confused_o.gif .

My rig: see signature

Please help! huh.gif

EDIT: I have two swap files of 1536- 3048MB each

There are loads of topics concerning this, try the search button and you will find several topics

The first thing I did when I got authorized was to perform a search. Anyways, I read the topics again, this time more carefully. And I tried everything suggested by the others and guess what: OPF keeps crashing with the same damn message.

I suspect your swapfile, you say its 3gig file,if thats working properly I would try to close everything you can before starting OFP, something must be holding that memory

I tried different swap file settings (including the max 1000MB suggested in various threads).  When playing offline I always close all other applications including Firewall, Antivirus  software etc. I have already checked for Viruses, Sypyware etc. but found nothing and because my whole System was set up 3 weeks ago I'm sure that there are no dead drivers that mess things up.  So I have no idea what application could hold the memory.

Thanks anyways sad_o.gif .

to say it easy try one or more of these irreparabel steps:

-delete ur last active userprofile and ur Flashpoint.cfg, rerun the FlashpointPreferences.exe

-delete unecessary addons (res\addons\wink_o.gif, keep them as low as possible, try using mod folders for each mod or addons-collection (eg: crcti, mfcti, rts, bas, etc...)

What terrain detail are you choosing? If Very High then you should reduce it, also what graphic driver version are you using?

Terrain detail already is at "normal". Driver Version is 78.03.

I tried the mission "cleansweep" and I had between 38 and 80 FPS (1,3k visibility) but when starting the 1985 campaign my framerate drops to 13 and less (900m view).

Edit: I just tried the mission "lone wolf": (visibility 1,5k) and I get between 23 and 39 FPS. confused_o.gif

So far it seems Framerates are very mission dependent. I would love to play the campaign but with 13 FPS and < it's unplayable help.gif .

Have you tried 81:87 beta drivers? I have issues with these and OPF on my GF6 but they might work well for you.

I also recomend you to set terrain to low and keep visibility around 1000/1200M. I think it was posted by someone from BIS along time ago that high terrain and visibility settings would require very powerfull (future) HW, unfortunetly OPF does not make use of current high spec system resources (its 4.5 years old, it wasnt meant to)..

Also be sure to disable object shadows! This setting will try to kill any machine out there, performance degradation with object shadows on is fearsome, terrible, gruesome, shocking crazy_o.gif .

There, hope this helps smile_o.gif .

Had this problem very often, and it is still happening sometimes. I think there is only one final solution to this problem, Armed Assault.

Disabling object shadows hardly improves performance huh.gif . In the training mission I still get about 14-20 frames which is not enough. I can only hope that ArmA will make use of multicore CPU's  confused_o.gif. Hopefully it will come out this Year... banghead.gif

Edit: I just found out that turning off reflections in the dxdll setup gives me a big performance boost whistle.gif . I don't know why it decreases performance that much on my new gfx card but I reached a point where I don't care about this anymore. I guess I can start the campaign now.

Aha! i missed this part... If your frame rate problem is related to DXDLL and reflections you should have searched the forum has it is a well known and discussed issue that appeared long time ago with some video driver version and never got fixed, enjoy the game smile_o.gif .

It really would have helped if you'd mentioned that before banghead.gifwink_o.gif

Seems recent Nvidia drivers + DXDLL's reflections = framarate problems, no idea if there is a driver set that has good framerates with DXDLL + reflections, I'm an ATI man myself so someone else will have to answer wink_o.gif
