WP Soldiers 0.5

Recommended Posts

Any chance that there will be updated versions of the original Polish camouflage Mi-8s? I know there will be additional versions of Diesel's NATO schemed Mi-8.. perhaps in the future?

I meant the camouflage that is used in WP Soldiers mini mod. I suppose it can always be done later though. How is the latest OM version of GROM doing? It has been quite a while since I've seen screens, in fact the last ones were still on the old model.

The GROM project is unfortunately ... let's say on hold. We've quite an impresive collection of weapons that need to be polished up, but no soldier models. The previous ones were scrapped, because they're not up to current standard.

WPS Patch 0.51

Download here (2MB)

You must have version 0.5 installed.

Changes:

- Star 266 - missing wheel texture fixed, glass no longer "indestructible", minor driver view fixes

- BRDM2M96 - additional wheels removed for realism sake, gunner optics added. External camera position adjusted

- Mi-8 - in-flight handling improved. Front gear animation added.

The patch is much appreciated, everything appears to be working smoother now, especially the Mi-8s handling. Perhaps for the next patch you can do something about the rotorwash script? I noticed even if I pull away from the ground and reach a higher altitude, it can be seen on the ground. No need to rush though.

It is unfortunate to hear about GROM, but at the same time I do understand why it is on hold. I hope to see more from OM, best of luck to you guys smile_o.gif

I agre put MG on the rear back of  chopper for self defence,

right now is just a target for ground troops to fire on him.

Btw this is great mini mod, I like using it.

Excelent units and that MG is superb!

It would certainly make some nice screenshots in combination with this. whistle.gif

AFAIK such a configuration does not exist in Polish Army. However, sometime in the future we're going to release Mi-8/17 armed with FFARs.

Llauma, im sure Offtime will contact you soon about it. wink_o.gif

Thats how it often is in real life, you just have to learn to dodge the incoming bulllets wink_o.gifrofl.gif

My question is..what is the thinking behind putting a helo into action and not having it able to defend itself???...do they not "like" their military personell biggrin_o.gif  tounge2.gif

And where would you add those MGs in Mi-8/17?

Mi-24s and Sokols got two additional PKMs served by soldiers from inside. But still it is only to force bad guys to have their head low - not the main power of chopper.

at any rate a PKM on the side of a Mi-8, which is quite a big chopper is hardly gona make it safe from ground fire. As Przezdzieblo pointed out, the main purpose of weapons on Transport Choppers is to keep the enemies head down, if you want something that can gun down all the enemies, thats what Hinds or Cobras are for

I hope so 'cause the old one isn't that good.. infact it's quite bad, just compair. Sure, the new one is more detailed but it only has around 10% more faces. So overall a unit would get around 3% more faces. I'm not sure what you think but I think that it's worth it.

The proportions are still WIP but I'm pretty pleased with the level of detail. I'll soon do a test mapping to see which details might need some improvement.

We're trying to keep it as close to reality as possible. Mi-8/17 is a transport chopper. If it's to be used in hot zone, it's likely to be escorted by the armed choppers such as Hinds or W-3. As I said earlier, we will only be adding versions armed with FFARs as in reality. Finito. smile_o.gif

Uhhmm? What?

Llauma, the new face model looks top-notch. We will definitely be implementing it as soon as it's ready. smile_o.gif
