garrison86 0 Posted October 22, 2005 Topic is too far off now. We are talking about a Persistent Server. With an Island small enough for platoon size combat. Where the goal is for one side to take over the entire island. ============ With the engines scripting abilities we could say that each town or island has a specific bonus. I.E. you capture a port city or air port, and you get large amounts of ammo and supplies there. IDK throw some more ideas out.
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 22, 2005 Where the goal is for one side to take over the entire island. With the engines scripting abilities we could say that each town or island has a specific bonus. Â I.E. Â you capture a port city or air port, and you get large amounts of ammo and supplies there. Â IDK throw some more ideas out. I dont see the logic in that, you capture a specific town and your percentage of captured territory increases, i dont see why would the military capture towns to increase supplies, ammo, money, etc unless the enemy forces were stationed there and the objective was to cut their supply storage. But then again i dont see how you can simulate such a large scale operation involving so many forces with only 40 players and make it play believable and not a mix of RTS with BF2 . garrison86 0 Posted October 23, 2005 Look there is a tactical Advantage to taking territory. Obviously if you only control a forest you are not going to be able land a plane or have a port? I dont like RTS' and I could only stand to play BF2 for like a few weeks. But we all know that OFP has limited ammo in crates and such. And if this is a persistent server your going to need to constantly be rearming people who die. I'm not saying put them on NOE im saying put them on an island maybe 5-6kmx5-6km with strategic choke points on the island.
Espectro (DayZ) 0 Posted October 23, 2005 the ofp multiplayer is, and have allways been rather small... Its not only JIP, but its the multiplayer aspect as a whole... its just alot more difficult to get a quick game. Its easier now, but i remember in the "old days"... It was really hard getting through a mission without weird desyncing stuff happening on screen...
jakerod 254 Posted October 23, 2005 20 vs 20 1x General 3x Tank Commanders 6x Infantry Commanders 3x Aircraft Commanders 1x Spec-Ops 1x Supply Commander 1x Medic Commander 1x AA Commander 1x Boat Commander? Have it so that you need to have either a port or an airport to keep getting supplies. Capturing towns really doesn't do much for you other than making supplying your teams with ammo and fuel and such easier. Objective: Destroy the enemy and stop them from taking over the island.
