quiet_man 8 Posted September 6, 2005 So what topics do you think are allowed at this forum? I'm trying to understand the use of this forum. Yes I have read the sticky and I know what should not be posted But can think of much remaining "allowed" What else can you post about an unreleased game than questions, ideas and speculations maybe someone can explain? Or lets make this thread a collection of "allowed topics" quiet_man

gandalf the white 0 Posted September 6, 2005 Can't Bohemia put two lines at the top of the ArmA board? "Suggestions cannot be implemented in Arma at this stage, try Game2" "Questions will not be answered by Bohemia, threads will be locked" maybe a 3rd line: "Nothing to do or see here, just move along"
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted September 6, 2005 ..this is acctualy quite a valid question.. Threads randomly get locked, as people don't know what not to discuss... - Ben
redface 1 Posted September 6, 2005 So what topics do you think are allowed at this forum?I'm trying to understand the use of this forum. Yes I have read the sticky and I know what should not be posted But can think of much remaining "allowed" These are not forums where you rapidly start new topcis in order to attract more attention to your own predicament or interest. Over here, people start up new threads in the rare case that they have really new information to share or a contribution to make to the community. It's a sign of maturity and politeness to post in existing threads. It helps to keep the forum more easy to follow (especially given the size of the community involved) and for the rest: I can tell you for sure that a topic explicitly putting into question the moderators' policy is not allowed ... Harnu 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Allowed topics? Anything pertaining to ArmA such as news, press releases, screen shots, discussion of information that is valid, etc. What's not allowed? Suggestions/Requests/Demands or questions/requests to know about specific information that has not yet been disclosed by information.
WhoCares 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Allowed topics? Bah, I wait for some more useless topics to see the whole page 1 filled with locked topics - must have been in the ancient times of the 'Mighty 5' in the OT-section when this happened last

Suggestions/Requests/Demands or questions/requests to know about specific information that has not yet been disclosed by information. hm, if I look at the latest interview and screenshots threads ... and take away all the "oh great" posts, even at these threads most are questions and sqeculations and what do you expect from real fans? don't get me wrong, I think it is good to keep stuff under control, to much hype can kill a company also to make clear that at this point no features will be added is a good thing having done some software development projects my own, nothing worse than last minute "improvements" but I would say I'm one of the fewer people who understand the rules I had posted "Mod Manager" at the game2 suggestions and one of the first replies was "why don't you post this at AA forum" summary: any thread in this form will lead to questions and speculation. Maybe you should re-think the approach!? quiet_man

Harnu 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Quote[/b] ]I had posted "Mod Manager" at the game2 suggestions and one of the first replies was "why don't you post this at AA forum" You posted that thread in the correct forum. The member that asked if it should be in this forum would have been wrong to try and place it here. Quote[/b] ]summary: any thread in this form will lead to questions and speculation. Maybe you should re-think the approach!? Many of the threads would, that's why they are locked. Threads that contain the information and screenshots are just fine, because everyone is using that presented information. As opposed to the threads that get locked that are either asking specific information that no one known, or trying to directly ask BIS for information. And no offense to any members here, but no gaming company is going to release information on a yet to be released game, outside of a normal press release or official release, just because John Doe interweb user asks. And aside from those threads, there are the duplicated, there are the suggestion threads that don't belong in this forum, etc. etc.
DBR_ONIX 0 Posted September 7, 2005 So we can only discuss what's been said by BI (In short). But as you said "no gaming company is going to release information on a yet to be released game, outside of a normal press release or official release"..? - Ben
TheBladeRoden 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Why have the AA forum at all then? Just do the news releases on the site with the little commentary boxes under it, since that's all we're allowed to do anyway.
Harnu 0 Posted September 7, 2005 Quote[/b] ]So we can only discuss what's been said by BI (In short) Feel free to discuss things pertaining to information from BIS, yes. But as it stands now, do not go beyond that for all the reasons we've previously stated. There's no need to clog a board with rumors and baseless speculation. I'm going to close this down now before it keeps getting too repetitive. Any further questions about moderation decisions, go right ahead and PM a moderator or ask your questions in the Ask A Mod thread.
