KilJaed3n 0 Posted August 24, 2005 When I try to Install the OPF:GOTY cd, everything is fine until the installation process reaches the file copying, it refuses to copy the file: O.pbo. the installer will close after I accept the error prompt. Placebo 29 Posted August 25, 2005 O.pbo is a fairly large file, some motherboards have problems copying large files, the four main solutions (if applicable to your system) are........ 1. If your motherboard has a VIA chipset update the drivers. 2. If your CD-Rom ASPI layer is missing or outdated update/install that. 3. Copy all the files from the CD onto your hard drive then install from your hard drive. 4. Reduce the PCI latency in your BIOS (if you don't know what this is try to avoid it). Odin -AEF-Kampa- 0 Posted August 25, 2005 5. Check your Ram with MemTest
DKM Jaguar 0 Posted October 26, 2005 I have a similar problem where the installation will be fine up until it says it is installing O.pbo, after about 5 minutes it will say something like 'file read error' with the location of O.pbo on the CD and then close the install, stating that the program may not work. It may be the CD is scratched. I have tried going to the O.pbo on directly on the CD and copying it to my desktop from there, but that also gets an error. It's unfortunate but if it is a scratched CD I will not be buying a new one, I must have spent about Å70 on CWC and all the upgrades, I won't be paying any more. da12thMonkey 1943 Posted October 26, 2005 Jag, you can try sending Codemasters your CD, they'll probably be able to send a replacement one for the cost of postage and packaging. That's what I did when my GoTY CD1 cracked. I'd email their customer service thing first though to make sure that's still possible.
DKM Jaguar 0 Posted October 26, 2005 Yeah I'll try that, thanks.
hardrock 1 Posted October 26, 2005 @ Aug. 25 2005,22:07)]5. Check your Ram with MemTest That is always good. I once couldn't install with the same error for two reasons: One of the RAM modules was defect (which I found out with MemTest) and my CD drive caused little read errors due to malfunction. DKM Jaguar 0 Posted October 26, 2005 It seems after about 5 tries it has actually installed. Thanks for the help anyway.
