Try to reconnect the internet wire...

Take it out for 15 seconds or so and put it in again.

Restart the computer

And now?

<s>I didn't see much Capital letters only "HELP. ASAP!", so I don't think the mods will hunt you down smile_o.gif</s>

Lookie lookie, placie renamed the topic wink_o.gif

Internet access problems are not areas for Operation Flashpoint troubleshooting, however for now I'll move this to OT instead of closing it and perhaps if you post more information someone may help you.

i don't get it; you're saying that whenever you unplug your computer, the internet doesn't work at all? how are you posting this message then? does it start working after a while?

I'm confused as to how you're on the internet right now if you can't get on, what a paradox.

My connection does go off though when ever I reboot or turn off the computer. For me the solution is that I have to open the dos promt and type ipconfig /release hit enter and then type ipconfig /renew and hit enter. Then I'm connected again.

Kind of hard to tell since you are not even telling your operating system, internet connection type and what kind of hardware you are using to connect. huh.gif

I take it hardware troubleshooting is allowed from now on? perfect smile_o.gif

*Awaits morderator to say "NO" in huge red writing and lock thread ¬_¬*

I dont understand your first post.. Your saying when you switch of the plug, you can't get on the internet? Or when you plug it in again, you can't get online? if so, how can it affect your ping, as you'd need to connect to the server in order to see your ping, in which case your connected, so it's not a problem..

But if your connected, your problem doesn't exist, thus I'm not typing this, thus I dont exist.. *Disappears*

Oh, I really like the "search the forum ... this has already been discussed" responses (and then a topic lock).  I wonder if "he" has ever tried to search the forums ... you get 10,000 topics, each with hundreds of posts.  If "he" knows so much, why doesn't "he" just post the f'n answer and help out a little.

...erm.. Noone has suggested that he search the forum, almost everyone has suggested something to try, or be confused.. Possibly a valid argument when it isn't randomly injected into a perfectly health thread.. icon_rolleyes.gif

So it works for a while, then cuts out? And you need to replug it into the PC for it to work again? or do you need to replug it into the power? If the later, I suggest you get another modem (Try and get a replacement from your ISP), I guess it could be getting too hot.

Not totaly sure how you could work out what the problem is.. If the modem comes with software, it might include diagnostic software, run that after it cuts out and it might say something..

Try contacting your ISP, see if their working on the telephone lines or something (BT sometimes do this, and the internet cuts out at 11-2 at night occisonaly). But if it's a recuuring thing, hmm..

Do you have another PC that you could put onthe other end of the modem for a few hours to see if it's the modem or the PC that's causing problems?

when your internet isn't working i would try unplugging the modem (or turning it off) and then turning it back on while the computer is on. it's worked for me occasionally.

Don't be facetious. Anything we deem too unrelated to OFP will still be locked, of course. There are literally hundreds of dedicated hardware and software help sites and discussion boards out there - this is a GAME forum.

Because if we don't do this we end up with a dozen topics on the same topic. If you use the search forum with a little care (using keywards with AND or OR) you can find pretty much anything - I do it on a regular basis. I'd also advice watching your attitude - moderation decisions are not open for discussion, and certainly not open for petty criticisms.

So, in effect, for deciding to try and help out and leave a topic open, we get two wiseass answers. Great way to inspire us NOT to lock threads... confused_o.gif Please do not further use this thread as an excuse to debate topic policy - next person to do so can expect a Post Restriction and a Post Cuunt Reduction for spam. If you must discuss these things, either PM a moderator or use the Ask A Mod thread...

The allowance of this thread was temporary, as DEATHBULLET has chosen not to actually seek help in this thread by posting his system specs and a more detailed explanation of this problem then we can consider the issue closed.
