Kyle Sarnik 's Vietnam Units

Has any guy downloaded Kyle's updated Vietnam units in CZ site? Really a nice unit pack but I got a problem and wonder anyone has similar problem like me?? When I played it in ECP and CSLA, OFP always returned to desk top. I don't know why. Anybody could help??? huh.gif

those arent vietnam troops, anyone ever saw vietnam troops with ALICE gear ? and time maschine ?.....

I know that I was in the process of converting them but I got tired of the project so I released it as is... if enough people want me to I could probably finish them up.

i also found that problem ofp crashing to desktop running clsa and ecp

and the lack of a little readme ? especialy with that helmet stuff it looks cool but no explaination of how to do that all or how the weapon stuf (double weapon) is done

Same here, i also had ofp crashing. Also another problem i found was that sometimes the "Take Helmet Off" command would get glitchy, like when you activite it through the action menu, it would still be on the soldiers head and would also be on the left side of him (hanging off his belt).

Also when you took the M60 off the tripod, it would still be on there and on your back? Also without ammo.

These units are great (i'm a fan of modern warefare and was bored so i thought i would try these out). The Colt 911 was the best i have seen. The scripting was simply amazing! Would love to see this kinda stuff on modern units. I really loved the guy with a M16 and a shotgun, what so cool! It would be cool if you can post the script on how you can do it yourself smile_o.gif .

If you have problems with CSLA and ECP then don't run them, not my fault that you downloaded mods that mess with your default stuff.

As for the lack of readme, I know, I didn't have time to write a proper one so I didn't make one at all. And if its buggy well I warned you. Maybe after the release of Armed Assault I will have more time to finish these up. And if you want to know how I did all the scripting, use your trusty UnPBO or WinPBO tool...

And like I said if its popular enough I'll probably continue work on them.

i am not saying its your fault tounge2.gif its just a shame it crashes to desktop banghead.gif

but i think that a lot of people whould like to see this finished (mostly the nam lovers.. inlove.gif )

running y2k3 you get the same results.. a crash to desktop...

thats after a .model. error in the editor.

using custom animations the soldiers arm is all about 2 inchs thick.

but i concur they do look cool

I was going to ask a few questions about the model special and CTD's but seeing the attitude...I'm not going to bother with this at all.

I use CSLA and for these not to work with it is kinda icon_rolleyes.gif

Ok I will try to figure out the cause of the CTD's, but I will need to know exactly which units you were using and what (if any) error messages you've been getting.

Also, I know about the arms on one of the models, I was experimenting with the hands and like I said I released it as it was and didn't bother fixing that up. If you spot any other bugs let me know and I might consider fixing them up for a second beta release.

the LAW is giving the model special error

i played with the guys one by one and didnt have any CTD cept i couldnt play with the LAW guy.. now by saving the mission as a pbo file and then testing it.. u could get past the model special error.. but thats what crashed my game was when i turned to look at the LAW soldier.

everything else worked for me just fine.

i really like the weapons smile_o.gif

LAW soldier uses the SEBNAM LAW, so you need SEBNAM to use it, and same with the radio, that would have been mentioned in the readme if there was one... sorry biggrin_o.gif

I sure hope you will credit to John J. Rambo when a readme is made or something somewhere,btw why did ya include sebnam for 1 infantry or so? That's a pretty huge downoad man.

I don't use ECP nor CSLA, but whenever I try to use the NEW units (like the shotgun man) I get crashed to desktop. The old units, that have been but have been edited, work fine, and I have seen no bugs in the new features like 2 main weapons etc. Well exept for the fact that the "secondary weapon" must be dropped to use the primary. Looks pretty cool though when you have a Colt in your hands and Thomson and Ithaca in your back tounge2.gif

So, I can use the old units, LAW, M79, Officer, Medic, RTO, Machinegunners and soldiers 1-6, but the rest keeps me crashing. help.gif

Aye, man! These guys make teh real movie-style 'Nam-group, with guys wearing something else than those M1 helmets. Nothing bad in M1, but having almost every unit in Seb Nam Pack to wear 'em is just so... Dull?

i just used two groups of these guys 2 choppers form sebnam pack a NVA group of sebnampack

and 1 player -> the guy with the thompson and the m500 shotgun

and dont forget the a-shau valley island

with this they crashed top desktop

(mod config is ECP & CLSA II)

The credit is all his, and I didn't use a single one of my tags in any part of this addon, I left the tag as JJR and I am sure people can figure out it was the old JJR pack just updated. Its basicly an updated version of his troops, not a whole new addon, so no credit is necessary because I didn't borrow or use anything of his, I just added my own stuff to his.

I have no clue why everyone is experiencing any CTD's, this version was tested by me and others, and if ECP or CSLA causes them to crash then its ECP's or CSLA's fault for not making their mod able to support new addons that would otherwise work properly. I am going to have to talk with the ECP and CLSA teams if I am to figure out how to solve this problem.

As I said, I have problems even though I've never used ECP nor CSLA. (And I'm not planning to, either. Buahaha) So there must be something weird with these new units. And I mean NEW units really, not the old edited ones. And I think you should have left the squadleader's backpack...

Well I have no idea why you are crashing, did you make sure you installed all the new PBO's overriding the old ones? And have you tried placing the new units in a new mission rather than loading an old one with the old troops in it? And the squadleader doesn't have a backpack because I was in the process of removing them from all of the Aircav units because they travel light and don't take backpacks with them.

and to answer the question why include the seb nam stuff....

i shouldnt have to justify that kinda question with an answer but i will:

becuz this is vietnam units... and it only makes sense to have the veitnam mod.. so that your veitnam units.. have something to shoot at (nva) something to fly in (seb helos) an island to fight on (seb i_drang [which all otehr nam islands use anyway]).

so why require the nam pack? cuz noone in thier right mind would play with vietnam units without other veitnam units

Hehe yep, nam missions in OFP are not possible without without sebnam.

When I tested without ECP or CSLA, the crash still happened. I wonder whether it's the problem of new animations of DPM since I used new animations to substitute the old official one and many guys should just like me to do so.

As for the backpacks of those Aircav soldiers, please just don't remove them!!! I think it's very nice to have those backpacks for the soldiers and it should be the awesome feature of your soldiers! whistle.gif
