adrenaline red 0 Posted July 20, 2005 I have always wanted soldiers in OFP that wear body armour to have higher armour values as in reality. Anyone else feel the same?? I know that modern body armour systems like the Interceptor Body armour US troops currently use are able to stop Ak-47 rounds and pretty much any round that is less powerful. So I think that maybe newer addons and or older addons with body armour should have higher armour values for the torso. It seems like the AI like headshots so I wouldnt think units with body armour would be invincible. I have no clue how to make addons or mess with configs so I was wondering if people familiar with that sort of thing would weigh in and tell me how likely doing something like that would be. To support this proposal here is an interesting video from Iraq. In it an American Soldier is caught on tape being sniped by terrorists, probably with a sniper rifle that I am guessing is at least 7.62 calibur. After being hit almost dead center he is knocked down but is able to get up quickly and take cover. The pictures of this soldier and his armour show that he escaped with a nasty bruise and a big dent in the front armour plate. ruff 102 Posted July 20, 2005 unpbo the addon u want with more body armour and look for e.g. armour=5 armourhands=0.5 armour body=5 etc. anything that has armour on the config is the armour value of the config. if your after increasing body armour i usually increase armour, armourbody and armour structural its easy once yo start messing with configs youll be addicted and editing all your addons just a warning
adrenaline red 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Ok thanks! So I would tinker with "armour body" then? And by what values do these go by? A 10 point scale? I know what you mean, once I figured out how to tweak Rome Total War I haven played with the original config.
Major Fubar 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Just curious, is it possible to limit a unit's speed or mobility if it is wearing heavy and/or bulky body armor?
sanctuary 19 Posted July 20, 2005 In the Class Man:Land , there is <table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE">maxSpeed=24; You should be able to add and modify this value in each soldier classes according to the body armours modifcations. Note : i never experimented with this, so it is possible this value does not affect the human player and only the AI. Test and see.
Panda-PL- 0 Posted July 20, 2005 I'd recommend You download commented config or something... not sure if it's ok to post a link here. If You have it You can see hoe to - for example - make some soldiers use different animation sets (I was amazed by that one), or what are the default values for armour in config. It would be better if people wearing bodyamor would get winded faster. STGN
Panda-PL- 0 Posted July 20, 2005 Why not experimenting with weapon slots too? That is also possible. I mean let's limit the magazine slots to 6 for example? So that people would carry less LAW's or grenades? @STGN. No, if the change is small - noone will ever notice. However the winded idea is great, can this be done? adrenaline red 0 Posted July 20, 2005 I dunno how accurate the getting winded thing would be. I couldnt find the exact specs of the Interceptor System but I doubt it is heavy enough to "wind" soldiers. I would even go as far as to say the equipment, ammo, and other kit weigh more. Plus these guys are in pretty good shape.
Panda-PL- 0 Posted July 20, 2005 I would even go as far as to say the equipment, ammo, and other kit weigh more. Yeah... the military thingie uses different technology then police. Full SWAT type body armour level III (front, sides and back) weights around 20kg. The military types might be lighter as the SWAT guys are often being exposed at point-blank ranges. However I think that it weights more then riffles, ammo, grenades and all the other stuff alltogether.
DanAK47 1 Posted July 20, 2005 You could make them slower by giving them a unique animation class (or cfg, whatever you want to call it) using StatesExt and changing the speed values of the running classes and the strength of the duty values. Don't make the soldiers too tough. Doesn't it already take 3 hits to kill soldiers? You should make a "knocked-down" animation (you could use the existing death .rtms) and play it when these soldiers are shot.

What I was thinking is that when you sprint you should get a inaccurate aim a bit faster than els. Because they need to use more strenth than the guy not wearing bodyamor. adrenaline red 0 Posted July 20, 2005 True, that would be a good effect. I was just against making these guys slower than they already are. I think the FDF has does something like that, if you sprint for a while aiming is almost as hard as when you have gotten shot in the arm.
