Lord Talis 0 Posted January 24, 2002 I'll have to take a look at that option.
InqWiper 0 Posted January 25, 2002 You can do rolls and loops with a joystick?! I gotta get me a joystick, oh just made me thought of a bug, try getting Ur gears down, fly in about 165 with A10 turn a little and at the same time slowly sink into the water. U will be loosing armour slowly, but dont worry, just increase the speed and U will be out of the water with half armour, nice trick too lose someone on Ur tail :-P Never tried it in MP but I bet the guy will think U crashed. Maybe when U get out of the water U will be on his tail, the hard thing is to reduce spead and everything before getting shot, the planes cant take very much... mahuja 12 Posted January 26, 2002 Myself I use my stick (f16 combatstick) for anything with thrust vectored backwards. With downward thrust (VTOL&HELO) I make sure not to touch the throttle, using the up/down movement on the hat instead. Pulling it all the way back, I got tired of waiting to see how far it would go when it reached 30 000 meters. My two problem are 1) that rudder controls are disabled when using this stick (preventing really tight turns) 2) That the secondary joyhat is not supported by ofp. with helos I often use the keyboard, keeping mouselook on for the duration of the flight. *did not vote*
Wobble 1 Posted January 26, 2002 you dont really FLY a chopper with the mouse and keyboard.. you just tell it what to do.. Up and down doesent increase or decrease your collective (thrust).. it just make some majic pilot do it.. ever notice ho when using the up/down keys you always stay the same distance from the ground.. thats because your not controlling the collective.. you just deciding how far off the ground you want to be.. and some majic being does it for you... sounds like and advantage.. but once the throttle problem is fixed people who actually FLY the aircaft with a stick/throttle will be much better because they actually haver REAL control of their aircraft... mahuja 12 Posted January 26, 2002 >Up and down doesent increase or decrease your collective (thrust).. it just make some majic pilot do it.. Since when would a pilot assistant computer be called a "magic pilot"? I don't know of anything using it in real life, but I do know it would be fully possible. >ever notice ho when using the up/down keys you always stay the same distance from the ground.. >thats because your not controlling the collective.. you just deciding how far off the ground you want to be.. and some majic being does it for you... Once again, stop calling a computer a magical being... And what's so wrong about deciding your altitude instead of the rotor lift? >sounds like an advantage.. but once the throttle problem is fixed people who actually FLY the aircaft with a stick/throttle will be much better because they actually haver REAL control of their aircraft... A "throttle indicator" would help - with a well marked deadband. the up/down keys limit you to 150 meters - while throttle control has put me in excess of 30000 meters. I'm more complaining about the rudder problem though - makes my turn&return performance much better, essentially more than halving time between attack passes if I use only the keyboard. Wobble 1 Posted January 26, 2002 Since when would a pilot assistant computer be called a "magic pilot"? I don't know of anything using it in real life, but I do know it would be fully possible *perhaps* they might be passable.. but none of the OFP choppers would have it.. ill look around and see of it exists and on what aircraft.. regardless.. thats more of an excuse than a reason... and I noticed the rudder issue its a pisser.. of course you shouldent be able to use tha rudder past a certin speed.. but even slow in OFP sometimes it doesent work right.,

PLEASE BIS and/or Codemasters, FIX the throttle problem(s)! 1) Throttle is too sensitive. 2) Throttle NEEDS forward/reverse throttle option for planes versus helos. 3) Helos & planes need any & all flight model improvements you can give it. Have you ever seen BIS respond to even one message on this board about the problems with the throttle? I hope it gets fixes, but I'm grasping at straw here.
