What can we expect from the new engine?

Recommended Posts

   Ok lets review...

42 troops, 2 helicopters, and a jeep. View distance 1000, terrain detail very low. Frame rate = unplayable.

The 4 year old engine wasnt meant to use the detail level used on most current addons, i am sure it will run better if you use stock units plus there is also the fact that newer graphics cards, actually latest driver versions dont like OFP for some reason.

Oh and i do care about graphics and visual quality, like the new lighting, water and stuff, instead of making the game bigger i would prefer if development were more focused on gameplay and graphics, i think the game is big enough already, it just needs some gameplay and visual improvements smile_o.gif .

Yes, it will work, but don't expect to crank up details completely.

@The topic - What can we expect from the new engine?;

One of the things I expect is the possibility to abort actions like reloading. If Im in the middle of reloading an RPG and press Z the player unit should throw down the launcher and go prone right away. It has always been impossible in Ofp and it's the one thing I thought BIS would change for Resistance. But they didnt.

Erm, like OFP? tounge2.gif (It uses about 200MB ram, on my PC anyway, which is odd because it could use a hell of a lot more.. hmmm.. Anyway..)

I dont think any game has ever done the stoping-reloading-mid-reload well, most of the time in games if you abort, it ends up doing the same thing twice.. Why can't the character, go prone without having to put a brand new mag in! etc..

Similar thing : Being able to move while reloading (Albeit reloading would take quite a bit longer) would be good. It seems odd that the highest skilled black-op can't move while reloading (Maybe the lower your skill/rank, the chance of your droping the magazine increases or something?)

If it's done right, it'd be great..but, if it's done wrong, it wouldn't be horrible crazy_o.gif
