Acecombat 0 Posted September 16, 2005 Nice planes but i have one question was it the badger or the Tupolev in the red storm novel by clancy? And didnt those planes like have missile type bombs which they just shot a volley of and then ran before the USN could intercept.
remcen 0 Posted September 16, 2005 one hint: randomize the smoke trail script a bit - concerning density, size, rotation speed, etc. a line of all the same looking smoke particles looks a bit odd maybe make the particles a little bit heavier than air so they slowly sink down. in other respects: great work! Stupid me should have realized the Badger was a NATO designated name . Thanks for the link. So in this addon will there be such surface to airmissiles , because on the first page i see only those typical ofp lgb bombs dropping like duds .
Gen. Lee Annoying 0 Posted September 17, 2005 Actually The missile launchers in red storm that would turn and run were the backfires........ my favourite maritime attack plane...........
snoops_213 75 Posted September 17, 2005 Excellent looking bombers By the look of the pics you are modelling B-52G/H and above? What about older types for Veitnam missions? Older BUFFs had quad .50 Cal MGs instead of the 20mm M163. Will the BUFFs and BEARs be armed with all the weapons it can carry ie AGMs, LGBs, ALCM, torps, mines and such? sorry if been asked. Good luck and looking forward to some fun missions Can almost see a Flight of the Old Dog type mission coming

Yeh ...... the taller tail and the tailgun are about the only real difference (as far as OFP would go). I'll do a early version B52 and those extra weapons after this beta release. Now with chutes thanks to CSJ
Gedis 0 Posted September 17, 2005 that smoke from engine should be not so dark and not so much...
[aps]gnat 28 Posted September 17, 2005 that smoke from engine should be not so dark and not so much... Research ...... B52s produce a huge clouds of dark smoke on take-off .. ie Water Injection power boost. Although this is not a take-off, its a bit hard to have a scipt that knows if the planes landing or taking off. Anyway, the smoke changes colour with altitude .... ie at higher altitdes it becomes a nice white vapour trail. An lets face it, in a proper OFP mission, how often are you going to see this beast on taking offs, landing or cruising at low altitude ....... not offen. Very few island airports are designed for this size aircraft (why the hell are there trees and building 10 meters from the runway!!! really! and if you want to use it to plaster the ground with MK82s, you dont do it from just 150 meters up. Gedis 0 Posted September 17, 2005 150m? i would do it at 60ofp meters... i know that smoke color changes in different altitude and that most of aircraft makes clouds of smoke starting their engines... it would be cool to have that script, which could control smoke's color and etc.

Strategic bomber. Two more words Tactical simulator... I doubt we'll be able to employ the BUFF for what it was truly designed for in OFP, realistically speaking. But I love the BUFF and can't wait to get my mitts on it
snoops_213 75 Posted September 17, 2005 BUFFs arent used exclusivly for strategic bomber role anymore. If you look at at the recent conflicts BUFFs been loaded with LGBs and AGMs to go Tank Busting and not at high altitude either. Nice to hear that we will get to see guided munitions for these in the future, and an old BUFF for nam
[aps]gnat 28 Posted September 18, 2005 I doubt we'll be able to employ the BUFF for what it was truly designed for in OFP, Â realistically speaking. Thats why the beta will come with the <span style='font-size:11pt;line-height:100%'><span style='color:Darkred'>Virtual Bomber</span></span> addon. This is basicily packaged scripts that allow a player to call in an AI controlled Bomber group (not just B52s) onto targets, more than once. Demo missions for the B52 and the F-111 will be included.
