miss_cleo 0 Posted June 21, 2005 "MiG-28!! Nobody's been this close before!!" That "MiG-28" is actually a northrop F-5 tiger, painted with soviet markings for the movie Top Gun. The US does use F-5s in their aggressor squadrons to stand in for migs. download footmunch's F-5 here: Â Â Â http://www.footmunch.org.uk/

StealthTiger 0 Posted June 21, 2005 YES YES OH YES! The Top Gun Theme (Real Audio) Danger Zone (Real Audio) (Should be air-guitar) Quote[/b] ]Revvin' up your engine Listen to her howlin' roar Metal under tension Beggin' you to touch and go Highway to the Danger Zone Ride into the Danger Zone Headin' into twilight Spreadin' out her wings tonight She got you jumpin' off the track And shovin' into overdrive Highway to the Danger Zone I'll take you Right into the Danger Zone You'll never say hello to you Until you get it on the red line overload You'll never know what you can do Until you get it up as high as you can go Out along the edges Always where I burn to be The further on the edge The hotter the intensity Highway to the Danger Zone Gonna take you Right into the Danger Zone Highway to the Danger Zone It's not like I've seen the film... alot *Footmunch's Aggressor was in grey I seem to recall, he didn't make a 'Top Gun - Black' version. Myself & ODB_Ryote had a little fun re-creating the film ourselves here.
mechastalin 0 Posted June 21, 2005 The lines are completely different from Russian air-craft.Hard to beleive that went over. That and all MiGs are named with odd numbers.
-HUNTER- 1 Posted June 21, 2005 movies most of the time have budgets that dont allow them to use real mig's or things like that. Which I find really stupid to see for instance a Puma being converted to look like a Hind! or the F-5 for that matter... I think its kinda crap the whole movie is nice and all but well which part is actually real? Not very much...
StealthTiger 0 Posted June 21, 2005 At the time I doubt that the americans would admit to having access to any Mig's to play with - besides the F-5 was readily available at Mirimar as it has already been said - they used these and the A-4 to train against. Edit: Don't forget.. it's wasn't meant to be real - It was a Recruitment Film. Ps. This is probably all lost on those too young to remember it when it came out. mechastalin 0 Posted June 21, 2005 It almost makes me laugh seeing that "Mig-28,No ones been this close before!" line then looking at an old F-5.
FerretFangs 0 Posted June 21, 2005 In the movie,I believe the MiG-28, was supposed to be the MiG-29, which was still fairly new in service with the Soviet Union in 1986. Most people didn't have a clue as to what the real MiG-29 looked like. I doubt most could tell today, unless they're afficianados, or need to know. The Red Hat Squadron didn't obtain any real examples ofthe Fulcrum until the early 'nineties, and these were kept secret at Groom Lake.
dabitup 0 Posted June 21, 2005 Man I first saw this movie when I was like six and now when I look at the F-5s I laugh--but topgun is one of my favorite movies! and then at the end when the admiral is saying that the F-5s are carrying Anti-ship missiles that can be fired from 100 miles...and they are carrying sidewinders but I am not ragging on this movie...its a great movie! Ares1978 0 Posted June 21, 2005 Oh it never hurts to make a MiG that only exsits in the movies. Yeah, but only if it is somehow original. Like the Firefox from Eastwood's movie.
FerretFangs 0 Posted June 21, 2005 That was certainly original.
