berghoff 11 Posted June 11, 2005 I'm working not on a Island this time but on a object pack, a nature pack to be exact (A Alpha version is included on Homeland right now). A nature pack with all kind of fancy trees that can be put on your custom Island. Right now I've planned to include; A set of 'lush' trees/bushes containing; - Maple tree (Acer campestre) - Poplar tree (Populus fastigiata) - Willow tree (Salix babylonica) - Oak tree (Quercus Robur) - Pine tree (Pinus Pinea) * White pine * Maritime pine - Apple tree (Pyrus Malus) - Holly Tree (Ilex aquifolium) - Misc bushes (for birds and ppl to hide in) - European Beech - Juniper - Fir - Linden - Spurce - Willow A re-edited Everon Island will be included in the release to show how the new trees look like. I also will some desert stuff later on but I don't have enough details about that yet. Too avoid lag issues I will make a low and high quality version. Some WIP screens; Birch tee; Paper brich tree and willow on background; If you have question or requests please ask. (And no, no birds are included sadly enough)

Taconic 0 Posted June 11, 2005 Very, very cool idea. I have wanted to see something like this for a while... I would have done something myself if I could model more than a crate in o2. It's looking very good so far. Have you considered making this a community initiative of sorts? It would be very nice to eventually have a foliage pack that contained all kinds of stuff from autumn maples to jungle palms and in high quality.

Commando84 0 Posted June 12, 2005 what about some snowy tree's? like snowy pine tree's that people can place out, but i think other tree's and bushes don't grow any green leaves n stuff on the winter so they could be tree's without the green parts on them i hope you understood my messy lines there

Schoeler 0 Posted June 12, 2005 What was meant by using a two color alpha is to use a green that is slightly offset from the green of the foliage for the leaves and a brown that is slightly offset from the brown of the trunk as your alpha channel colors and it will eliminate the "glowing" edges you are getting. This will save you a lot of time from hand editing your alphas to correct the problem. Listen, if you are serious about this project, I can give you speedtree for 3D Studio Max and a crapload of professionally done textures from Marlin Studios and ImageCELs. Also, I have Xfrog and textures for that application as well as a range of RPC 3D textures that are readily converted in photoshop. The only thing I ask is that the finished products go into the 3WX Nursery inventory upon completion for the community to use at their will.
metalchris 0 Posted June 12, 2005 good work Berghoff . I too had some trees in the work but never really finished them.

Thx but I'm making this pack for the community to use at their will in OFP/AA/VBS1. @metalchris Nice texture mate!
berghoff 11 Posted June 12, 2005 The Oak tree, hmmm still haven't figured out how to solve the alpha channel prob. Don't mind the problem with the leaf you see.
offtime 0 Posted June 12, 2005 two colors alpha chanel means that in alpha chanel you use only 2 colors, black and white. it doesnt means simple grayscale, but realy only two colors, black and white. there is such function in photoshop wich will let you obtain that, but i have polish version of PSP and i dont know how to translate "próg..." :P maybe someoneelse can help

[insert "thumbs up"-smilie here] Just me opening my mouth again, but those leafs could perhaps be a bit smaller. Heh Thanks , yea they can and will be smaller, I only used a little part of the texture there, so the leafs look too big.
