GEnaro_esparragoza 0 Posted June 1, 2005 When i start OFP, everything goes on right, but then after 1 or 2 minutes the game starts to get stuck and the sound too, then the game totally stops for 20 - 30 secs, and then returns to normal, then after a minute it gets stuck again  :crazy and that happens for ever!!! i didn't have that problem before, until now My system Spec: Pentium IV 1.7ghz 256mb Ram Geforce 2 Mx 64mb Windows Xp Service Pack
BraTTy 0 Posted June 1, 2005 Have you done the usual "Spyware" scans?
GEnaro_esparragoza 0 Posted June 1, 2005 no...but now that you say it, i will try, can you recommend any software for searching spyware? also i'm uptdating my nvidia driver
Heatseeker 0 Posted June 2, 2005 Spyware and viruses can really mess up your machines performance, be sure to have it clean, also i wouldnt recomend the latest nvidia drivers for your card has many people report issues with new driver versions and old games and/or graphics cards. addaware spybot:s&d But if performance degradation is that serious i would lean more towards some nasty viruses there . GEnaro_esparragoza 0 Posted June 2, 2005 OK, i just have done a full deep ad-ware search, and deleted every thing that the program found, and installed the new Nvidia Drive, and the problem is still happening, i start ofp and play, and 3 minutes after the game becomes sluggish and so the sound and 1 sec after it stucks with the sound looping, and after 10 secs everything runs perfectly, after another 2 or 3 minutes, stucks again with the same things that i have just described. pLZ, i'm addicted to OFP, and i even wanted so start Making Missions, and and IslaNd but this happens also in Buldozer, also happens when i play a flash game called Drag Racer Online, but the times it needs to take to stuck it's like 10 - 12 minutes. it sucks to be playing like that. HELP!!!
theavonlady 2 Posted June 2, 2005 Search The FAQ for words like "lag" and "stutter". EDIT: Just looked at your system specs. With only 256MB of RAM, you're asking for a performance bottleneck, especially if playing OFP V1.75 and above.
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted June 2, 2005 AVon is right. 256MB is not doing you any good. This might cause your problems. I had crash problems a lot (even with normal programs like paint ) untill I upgraded my RAM from 256 to 1536mb. And even if it's not the problem, getting more RAM is a good idea. Heatseeker 0 Posted June 2, 2005 Bah, it could be lots of stuff, like too many addons I noticed a significant improvement upgrading to 1 gig of ram in Nogova, much better responce and a bit smoother too, 512 is fine for cwc islands but for Nogova 1 gig is perfect . GEnaro_esparragoza 0 Posted June 20, 2005 OK NOW THIS REALLY SUCKS i used The Quick Restore Cd that came with mi pc to erase all the S#it, and start over again, so my computer is like when i first bought it, no a single program installed, also i added another 256 ram, so now it's 512, i HAVE ONLY installed flashpoint GOTY edition, and still gives me that damm problem, i will describe it again: i start flashpoint, (although that happens seeing large flash animations, powerpoint presentations, and happened too seeing the combat photography thread,), i start flashpoint, and all runs well, faster cuz the 512 ram , but after 1 or 2 minutes the game starts getting stuck giving me like 1 fps for 1 sec o 2, then freezes, then again 1 fps 1 sec or 2 and then return to normal fast playing, that problem last like 10 - 15 seconds, then 2 minutes after happens again, and keeps happening and so on. that happens also with the other aplications that i mentioned above, exactly the same, and the sound gets an echo like efect. PLEASE HELP, it's a fresh flashpoint installed. i never had this problem, NEVER, i had 1.96 months ago with tons of addons and never happened, also a year ago didn't happened too, until now! i just have reinstalled windows with the QuickRestore Cd an hour ago and the first thing i did was test flashpoint but didn't worked! wheres my rabbit ? 10 Posted June 20, 2005 wot soundcard you got ? try turning on and off hardware acceleration wot gfx driver version you running on that old card ? newer nvidia drivers dont work so well on the older cards try and get driver from your cards manufacturer website rather than nvidia (or at least check their site to see wot the last driver version was that they released for your card) e.g. i have a fx5600 and the last version leadtech updated to on their site was 66.93 they haven't updated there site to newer drivers for this card ...i tried newer drivers and they fooked my flashpoint and other games
scars09 9 Posted June 20, 2005 i would go a step futher as wheres my rabbit?, i would take the soundcard out of the system, if onboard disable in bios and after reboot try ofp. Looping sound could really be a performance drop (from a virus or often even worse, a anti virus software) but a hardware defect could be possible aswell. And if soundcard is disabled and prob is gone u have the solution. A ramtest should be done aswell, and maybe a look in dxdiag if something strange with directx. Soundcarddrivers update aswell. Hope that helps Scars P.S: Is the soundcard a soundblaster live??
BraTTy 0 Posted June 24, 2005 After you used your restore cd's.You will still need to update directx and i would recommend you use www.windowsupdate.com to patch up your windows
