Guest RKSL-Rock Posted May 3, 2005 I've recently added a few things to a model of a large (45m wingspan) airplane...it flys well etc except for one thing. The Altimeter reads as -3 until the airplane is above 64m. This normally wouldnt be much of an issue but i have scripts that are dependant on reading the altitude properly. Does anyone know what causes this and how to fix it?
Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 3, 2005 I don`t know how to fix it, but I found the same problem on a few islands with different planes.

Mr_Tea 0 Posted May 3, 2005 The wrong altitude was shown on the old kodiak island. The coastline at the airfield had produced altimeter errors. On most other islands the error didn`t happened.
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted May 3, 2005 Well just tested it on all the official islands and i still get the same problem... Anyone else?
csj 0 Posted May 3, 2005 roadways added to aircraft can effect alt readings.
colonel_klink 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Also another problem can be a memory point, such as a pivot for a canopy, being below the aircraft. My harrier suffers from this problem in order to create a sliding canopy. Some experiments I have done with placing the pivots either to the side or above the aircraft seem to work. But you got to play around with them to get it working.
Footmunch 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Roadway's do seem to be the main culprit for this. If it's not solvable, you can get the height of the plane by getting the height of 'driver _plane' instead. This seems to work better than the unit altitude, for some reason.
UNN 0 Posted May 3, 2005 Quote[/b] ]This seems to work better than the unit altitude, for some reason. Only if the roadway does not extend under the pilots position to. If it does, there are less than ideal ways of getting the height, that are not affected by roadways.
Trenchfeet 0 Posted May 24, 2005 chech that you are using the right altimiter config setting. there are 2 unfortunatly i dont have access to my compute files but this my be your problem???
Guest RKSL-Rock Posted May 24, 2005 chech that you are using the right altimiter config setting. there are 2 unfortunatly i dont have access to my compute files but this my be your problem??? its not the actual instrumentation thats the error....its the game engine alitimeter in the top left hand that is reading wrong. after some testing it appears to be the roadway thats causing it so thant for all your replies guys.
