hardrock 1 Posted April 21, 2005 What's your power supply? Problems like that one are mostly power supply related.
KeyCat 131 Posted April 21, 2005 Or heat related... When was the last time you cleaned your fans etc. from dust? /Christer (a.k.a KeyCat)
Placebo 29 Posted April 21, 2005 My PC does the same if I put the side panel on, leave it off and it'll run forever, in theory
-HUNTER- 1 Posted April 21, 2005 I had major reboots with another game, but I think its more of a error between certain stuff for the OS...? I got me sidepanel of since some weeks it helps allot during longer hours of OFPing... But I do have a dusted fan and top of processor, but it crashed out on certain point in the game, so its not allways hardware...
Heatseeker 0 Posted April 22, 2005 SBlive soundcard Since i upgraded from a ti4200 to a 6600GT AGP i get this problem with some DX8 games too, unfortunetly this includes OPF, its a compatbility issue betwean my new video card and my mobo's crappy chipset . I should have moved to pci-e, im considering doing so in the near future... .
Mr_Tea 0 Posted April 22, 2005 @ Heatseeker Are you shure you wont get the same problems with pci-e cards?
homer09001 0 Posted April 22, 2005 it shouldnt be heat related as i have the heatsink fan on teh CPU and a 8MM fan on the chassis pumping the hot air out? ill give it a try taking my side panel off. Â could it be some kind of conflict with my TV card as i dont remember it doing this when the tv card wasent instaled?? or would it help if i screwed anouther fan tyo the one already on the chasis as it would be a lot closer to the CPU therefor in theory it will draw a lot more heat from the CPU? I cant put anoputher fan onto thet chasis as the other slot is occupied by my cathode switches
edc 0 Posted April 22, 2005 I believe there are a few programs that let you see(assuming your processor supports its) the temperature. Let me try and find them. Edit: OK HMonitor was one I used in the past. It has a 1 week evalutation. My P4 is usually around 100 or 105, and my mobo is around 110(all Fahrenheit). Athlons usually run cooler. homer09001 0 Posted April 22, 2005 well i think it was my temp i already have a hdd and cpu thermometer on my pc and it reads about 80-90 degrees for the cpu but no i keep getting the blue screen of death
Strapt 0 Posted April 24, 2005 I am getting the same crash problems. I have reinstalled the game, reinstalled windows (tried with and without sp2), tried it with no addons, tried it without the patch and all the other things that people have suggested. I have even replanced: motherboard a7v8x-x was some old thing not worth mentioning cpu (gone from 850MHz celeron to 2.08GHz athlon xp 2800+ heatsink & fan Ram - now using 1GB (2x512) DDR 3200 instead of the 512 sdram with old motherboard graphics card is now FX5200 instead of my old TNT2. game STILL reboots the PC. I sent an email containing a screenshot of my settings, a description of my pc setup, an explanation of the problem and the dxdiag.txt file, to the official support people. They emailed me back asking me to describe the problem and send them dxdiag!! ffs! Yes i've tried removing a stick of ram etc, no it didn't help. Yes I've read half a million posts in various forums and asked people in game. I usually get told its due to overclocking, overheating or faulty RAM etc etc etc I have more or less got a whole new PC just to solve the problem and it hasn't. As you can imagine, "i'm a mushroom cloud layin MF" right now! This HAS to be sorted out seeing as a certain sequel to a certain other FPS has been cancelled for the PC... and they're apparently going straight to part 3. But i'm not even going to go there. Any other ideas, please?
Strapt 0 Posted April 24, 2005 Forgot to mention that my cpu temp is only 42degrees C and MB temp is 37C AND the side panel is off and theres a case fan in there. So its not a heat problem as some people have suggested. I also replaced the 300W psu from my old setup with a 500W psu, so its not because there isnt enough power, either. yes i have the latest nvidia drivers. Even got another set today along with the latest 4in1 thing.
