How 'bout some REAL snow?

Recommended Posts

I was thinking about this, or actually, have been thinking for a while already...

There is many winter-isles for OFP, including the defaults (except Nogova) but all of 'em just have a snowy landtexture to simulate snow. But really, snow isn't always that "solid", sometimes walking in it can be a pain.

So, the idea was, how about a snow object, or objects, where the soldiers' feet would actually be inside it? Maybe just big snow-textured squares, different heights like one that covers your boot, one that is up to your knee, maybe to waist or even up to one's chest?

Though this kind of snow wouldn't slow down the movement, but maybe that would be solved by scripting...

Just an idea, I myself have no addon-making experience and I dont know could this ever work out or anything.

One thing that annoys me in winter islands is the total lack of piled snow. I live in Finland and every winter, along every road there is large piles of snow that has been moved away from the road.

Its odd that noone has made a snow pile object.

Well...you could just create a model, give it snow texture, and don't give it a geometry lod, and then you will "sink" into it. It would look wierd with cars and such though, and there would be a trace behind you. Don't think this will work very well, might as well wait for OFP2. biggrin_o.gif Snow walls are possible though (where you dont "sink")
