belgerot 33 Posted March 14, 2005 Saddam, the participant of project Tropic War Mod has released what appear to be bearded Chechnyan Insurgents for use with many missions based in Chechnya. I think it is version 1.2, but I am not sure (my Russian is pretty rusty). It is required that you have ORCS weapons pack for this addon to work. http://flashpoint.ru/ Download Link @ www.flashpoint.ru Images (might be too large to post ) http://www.flashpoint.ru/newsimages/Genby/chb1s.jpg http://www.flashpoint.ru/newsimages/Genby/chb2s.jpg http://www.flashpoint.ru/newsimages/Genby/chb3s.jpg http://www.flashpoint.ru/newsimages/Genby/chb4s.jpg ORCS Weapon pack v3.2 ORCS RPG7
ThudBlunderQ8 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Thanks belgerot - a very good example of how to post a news item too! I could learn a lot from you.. However, when I d/l this I get a message box full of question marks instead of text. Presumably it's trying to tell me something in Russian, but - even though I believe I have all the E European character sets on this 'puter - I can't see what it's asking. Can anyone help? You must first visit the english page of OFP.cz/info to obtain their cookies, before you can click on a download url pointing to OFP.cz/info http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?newlang=eng When i clear my cookies and i f i click on an OFP.cz/info download link , i have this same page full of numbers/letters. ThudBlunderQ8 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Thankyou Sanctuary; however, in this instance I'm not actually downloading from the .cz site! The download is an .exe straight from flashpoint.ru and I suspect the dialogue box is asking me whether I want to run the programme. I'm too much of an internet wimp to want to click on any old button, I was just hoping that someone who'd successfully run this installer could say which button to press. By the way, I concur with your advice on d/l from gamezone.cz - I always go through their news site first.
Shadow NX 1 Posted March 14, 2005 Just click the right button it starts the install Nice units, maybe we should drop our plans for some Chechen rebels now... or maybe not

Thanks mate, I try my best to keep up with the news (especially on the Russian websites) so that nothing is missed. I was really surprised to see this today. I like paying attention to them because they can have some very surprislng and good news that other sites don't have at times. I just saw new Silent War Mod screens there and about a week or so ago an addonmaker made two types of home stereo speakers which looked really nice.
ThudBlunderQ8 0 Posted March 14, 2005 ShadowNX, Thanks, but before I do - what's it installing, and where does it want to put it?!

Shadow NX 1 Posted March 14, 2005 ShadowNX,Thanks, but before I do - what's it installing, and where does it want to put it?! Well in the upper part of the installer you see the target directory. I just changed it to my desktop... then you click the left button on the bottom and you get a folder with the pbo and a readme. The you put it into the usual ofp folders. Thats why i think installers for addons are bullshit, at the end i just extract them to my desktop and place all the stuff in the folders where it belongs... ThudBlunderQ8 0 Posted March 14, 2005 Thanks again for the replies. ShadowNX Quote[/b] ]Just click the right button it starts the install - the reason I asked "what was it installing" was that I couldn't find any new files in the destination folder. Â That's when I got brave and clicked the left button - hooray! Â Result! I wonder what the right button's actually for... Â presumably says "Cancel". Â Ta again, for someone so old I surprise myself just how thick I can be sometimes.

ag_smith 0 Posted March 17, 2005 Ok, is it just me, or the addon is all in Russian. All I can see in the mission editor is some funny strings (not even letters). Why, oh why the author didn't do any translation into some understandable language. It looks very good, though.
BlackScorpion 0 Posted March 18, 2005 The top one, with the diff. (looking) name is and officer, the others are grunts... And luckily the "specials" (sniper, AT, AA e.g.) show up after the word soldier (I guess it's soldier) so you know what you're choosing...
