Desiato 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Map and camera IVIS panel, keyboard or mouse controlled possible? Good example pages: MF conquer the island MOD http://mfcti.sourceforge.net/index.html This is fast commander camera interface. How i can add small map view panel (only battle area view). What is IVIS? (Inter Vehicular Intercom System). Just extra camera targetting, formation and map control system. IVIS would allow a tank crew to find out what other tank crews are seeing, and to tell those other crews what they see. Selecting vehicle camera screen views and pointing targets for other tank crews, without orginal bigmap messing? We need camera and map view panels, no external camera jumping. Here is example picture from M1 tank platoon 2 game. This is IVIS system for all mechanised platoon units (tank, air defence, antitank, and artillery). Best field manuals site, direct IVIS link: http://www.globalsecurity.org/militar....hp2.htm
Silent N Deadly 0 Posted March 4, 2005 That would be very, very difficult. But... Could be a very nice feature if pulled off.
Desiato 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Why not small IVIS system? Camera views fullscreen or small panel. Only damage, ammo, and fuel information, no full camera controls and target pointing. Small battle area map panel and perhaps waypoint controls. Check old tomahawk web site: http://www.tomahawkmod.uni.cc
Scrub 0 Posted March 4, 2005 Couldn't you use a normal outside view, adjust the usable center to the offset of the in-vehicle 'screen' and use an overlay image of the IVIS unit to mask the rest of the screen? 1-Problem: What about off-center zooms? 1- Possible answer: Use fixed zoom settings (2x, 4x, 10x, etc), every time you change zoom, the view direction and/or elevation changes (by a fixed ratio, or calculation) to keep the current view centered in the IVIS 'monitor' as in the pics above. (need to experiment with) 2- Problem: The cursor is, by default, homed to the center of the screen. It would be odd and difficult to target if this could not be changed. 2- Possible solution: Use an event handler to look for the 'reveal' / right mouse and use the same method as the Laser Designator. 'Just' alter designation direction/elevation by the last zoom offset, so the player may use the targeting pip on the screen overlay.

Desiato 0 Posted March 8, 2005 How to add incoming information? http://mfcti.sourceforge.net/index.html Here is example picture from tomahawk mod. Fixed addon link: http://ofp.gamezone.cz/index.php?showthis=8577 I try make similar camera view systems to ground vehicles. I dont try now add zoom or pan controls, better try first simple command controls. Left side only fuel, ammo, and damage information. Righ side more buttons, select vehicle views and more quick commands. Another good view system: http://www.ofpec.com/editors/resource_view.php?id=698 For command post vehicles, add satellite views?
