regarding what topic? Immersion?

Recommended Posts

ad,

can i not ever discuss what i think adds to immersion? i enjoy reading the comments, both negative or supportive, on these ideas - it's why i visit this forum.

move this to OT or whatever, i woulda messaged you personally about this but i couldn't find out how (and im in a bit of a rush)

i think you are going a bit overboard here armour. i don't see any of what i discussed as childish rubbish

It's not that you can't talk about immersion, hell that's the best thing about the game, it's just that some people seem incapable of doing it without the thread degenerating into some immature rant about grinding bunnies beneath tank tracks or some other thing.

Talk about immersion all you want, but just remember animals are people too wink.gif

Even if they don't add the animals in the immersionâ„¢ factor could be enhanced by sound effects, you're walking through a dense forest, you hear sounds, you investigate, suddenly a flock of birds fly off with a loud fluttering of wings and much squawking.......then the enemy attack.........etc smile.gif

hah, i'd be the last person to run over a bunny in a tank..hell, i don't even squash bugs. (cows fear me though, because I eat hamburgers like there's no tomorrow).

i agree immersion is what makes this game good, and as you recognize, it can excel even more than it does now. .. .

grinding bunnies beneath tank tracks

HAHAHAHA!!!!!

be driving along in the jeep *FLOOMPH!*.. what the hell was that!?.......

I stillthink it would be great to add animals to OFP.. like I sad a few deer and other creatures roaming around the island..

it would be neat to be driving along at niight and see their eyes glow in yer headlights..

I would say that adding off screen sounds would add more to the level of immersion of the game at less of a cost in terms of system resources, than little animal models running about.

From the birds mentioned previously, to the random falling of a branch in the woods during a tense mission, sounds can really add up quickly.

Additionally, the vast majority of animals, other than maybe farm animals such as cows, sheep and horses, will make themselves scarce at the site of oncoming scary looking humans.

I would say, though, that I second the inclusion of more random civilians would help. But this is something that third parties mappers could include within any missions they create. You know, having a couple of random vehicles moving along the roads and so forth.

I think that it would be fun to hunt a dear or something during the campaign to add a little fun or something, I'll bet someone makes a Deer Hunter mod or something for ofp. But Animals would add to a rather high already amount of lag sad.gif

Animals would be cool. Just think, you could make hunting missions and hunt deer with an M-21 (or an M-60), imagine the possibilities!

One thing I hate when being in any town is that Godd*mned barking dog, I wish they would make it in 3d, so I could blow it away! wow.gif , that thing can get annoying.

More civilians would also be neat but their should be women and children too. And not just any women, HOT women! tounge.gif LOL.

I could go on and on dreaming about the possiblities. I think OFP is fine for now. But it would be nice a few years down the road when our machines are a bit faster, we could integrate more things like ,factories, trains, rivers, lakes, bigger islands and towns, etc etc.

The thing that is special about OFP is that: This is the first game to make me think about total realism like never before. Sure R6 had its moments, but it pales in comparison to OFP.
