instantheadache 0 Posted January 16, 2005 Hello there, I have the Game Of The Year Edition, which does include Resistance, and thought it should be possible to use the mods meant for Resistance. However the WWII mod for example does not work after installation following that mod's installation instructions in GOTY, I don't know what I'm doing wrong but I can't get it working. Resistance has it's own maps under 'Res' for it's Campaign, Addons, Bin and Data but what should or shouldn't I install in those maps. Anyone who ever managed to install mods in GOTY please help me!! The installation instructions that came along with the mod were as follows (and I did follow these intructions!):Install the Operation Flashpoint 1.96 patch included. Extract the objects.rar file using winRAR to your OFP main directory. e.g.. C:\Program files\Operation flashpoint\+++++ Extract the WWII.rar file using winRAR to your OFP main directory. Make a shortcut to your Operation Flashpoint resistance.exe. Select properties of the shortcut and select the target field. Attach "-nosplash -mod=WWII;objects" to the end of the existing target. Place Missions and MPMissions in their respective folders in the OFP main dir. The readme file after installation said: Installation: Extract the WWII folder and shortcut to your OFP main dir Change the Startin field in the shortcut properties to match your own ofp folder. note; only the "addons" and "DTA" folders are really required. OR make a shortcut to your resistance exe Or Flashpointbeta exe with -nosplash -mod=WWII tacked on the end of the target field Use ";" to combine mods eg WW2;@ecp;objects etc HELP ME! what should be placed where and what should be changed? So far this didn't work!!
NeMeSiS 11 Posted January 16, 2005 put the WWII folder in your main ofp folder, in your flashpoint shortcut, attach -nosplash -mod=WWII ofcourse mods for resistance work for GOTY... its the same...

Tomislav 0 Posted January 16, 2005 hmm.. 0.00 post per day, and here since 2003. never seen that. first of all, it is possible, i have goty and all mods installed. maybe you should post where your operation flashpoint lies, so we can give you the right path for installation. ahh, and i put objects and the other addons in one folder. hardrock 1 Posted January 16, 2005 OFP lies? . . . and I thought . . . oh no! I got GOTY, and I got mod folders, and it works. Put them in your OFP root, add the command listed above and everything should work fine. Be sure to put the addons not directly in your mod folder, but in an "addons" directory inside the mod folder. instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Hi there, First of all sorry for posting at wrong forum 1st time, seems to happen a lot regarding your reactions. Couldn't reply for few days but here I am. Thanks for all your replies but I think I didn't formulate it clear then. What I want to know is: I have GOTY and have downloaded a WWII mod, but I do not know in which folders everything should be put (the mod contains addons, missions, campaigns, BIN, DTA etc.). My OFP main directory is in E:\games\flashpoint\operationflashpoint\. Should I make a mod folder? I also do not know whether I must change the OFP-exe shortcut's target or the OFPresistance-exe's shortcut or the shortcut that came along with the mod and how they should be changed. As you can see, I do not know a lot about things, which explains my forum name... I hope someone can help me with this!
theavonlady 2 Posted January 20, 2005 Always use mod folders. The only thing that usually cannot be placed in mod folders is a standalone island/world addon's menu screen animation cutscene mission folder. Search The FAQ for "mod folders" for setup instructions.
instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I copied the ww2 mod mission files into a folder I called WW2 in the mission section of OFP main dir, since I was told to do so by the mod installation instructions (but they say nothing about the mod's campaigns, the addons, DTA, and BIN for example). The ww2 mod is in my OFP main dir which is in E:\games\flashpoint\operationflashpoint, the shortcut properties had to be changed to "E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\OperationFlashpoint.exe -nosplash -mod=WWII;objects", as the instructions told me to do so. Now, when I open the WW2 shortcut it won't start, it says "No entry 'bin\config.bin.CfgWorlds'."

SP missions can only be placed as individual files or within subfolders inside of OFP's own MISSIONS folder. MP missions must be placed directly inside OFP's MPMISSIONS folder. Campaign can be placed inside of a mod folder. For example, you can have the following: E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\WWII\Campaigns The mod's addons should go into: E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\WWII\AddOns If the mod as its own config.bin file, it should go into: E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\WWII\bin Same for mod DTA files, if any: E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\WWII\dta I assume that "E" is your hard disk dive letter and not your CD drive letter. What is the "objects" mod folder for?
instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 indeed, E is my hard drive. After installation the mod has various folders: Missions, MPMissions, campaigns, DTA, BIN, Installation pics, Other Stuff and a mod shortcut. Anyway, I only placed the mod's mission folder under OFP main dir's missions folder, further nothing, but it doesn't work. It still says "No entry 'bin\config.bin.CfgWorlds'." when I open the mod's shortcut.
instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Before I forget: I have updated my GOTY to 1.
Odin -AEF-Kampa- 0 Posted January 20, 2005 dont forget to put a Subfolder called: "" ADDONS "" in it ;)
instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 Do you mean an extra addon folder in the mission folder or what? The mod already has it's own addon folder. I have also been looking on the avon lady's site and followed her advice of choosing autodetect in OFP preferences, but it didn't help....
Odin -AEF-Kampa- 0 Posted January 20, 2005 ....flashpoint/ModFolder/Addons/AnyAddon.pbo Why Autodetect ?! Its just for Performance of the game (texture Size, how many Buildings., ..., ....)
instantheadache 0 Posted January 20, 2005 I read it at the Avon Lady's site after searching for my problem. What might be interesting to know: if I change the shortcut's properties to make the mod run under resistance instead of OFP by making the property's target E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nosplash -mod=WWII;objects it also refuses to start but with another error announcement-> "cannot load world'worlds\intro.wrp'." theavonlady 2 Posted January 20, 2005 "E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\OperationFlashpoint.exe -nosplash -mod=WWII;objects" The old OFP EXE file (Cold War Crisis version 1.46 and below) does not support mod folders. Something's awfwee scwewee awound here!
instantheadache 0 Posted January 21, 2005 But I have the GOTY edition and I have upgraded it to 1.96.
theavonlady 2 Posted January 21, 2005 But I have the GOTY edition and I have upgraded it to 1.96. Yes, therefore you must run program FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE - not OperationFlashpoint.exe, which you mentioned on the previous page. Can you start up 1.96 properly without any mod folders, i.e., by double clicking on FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE?
instantheadache 0 Posted January 21, 2005 Okay, I started resistance exe and now I can choose the WW2 missions from the missions menu (the campaigns still not available but that's for later). So that's much better, only thing left is when I choose a ww2 mission it says it's missing addons. But the addons which it says to be missing are in fact in the mod's addons folder, I have checked their names and they are in the mod's addons folder. So it sounds like you are starting up OFP with the -mod switch. Do us a favor: copy and paste the complete exact command line from the OFP shortcut you are running. instantheadache 0 Posted January 21, 2005 I start it with the resistance-exe shortcut and it's target field is E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE Because when I use the shortcut that came along with the mod, which as I understood had to be changed in E:\games\flashpoint\OperationFlashpoint\FLASHPOINTRESISTANCE.EXE -nosplash -mod=WWII;objects, an error appears saying that the target path is unvalid. (I have to translate it from Dutch so the terms may not be exactly correct)
theavonlady 2 Posted January 21, 2005 Please copy and paste the ENTIRE target field here, not just the program execution path. Include everything.
