cpthyland2 0 Posted December 1, 2004 Please help, OFP (146 and 196) both crash at random intervals when I use my primary graphics card - 6600GT PCI Express. System Configuration: Asus P5AD2 1GB Kingston DDR2 P4 3.0GHz 6600GT PCX with 66.93 drivers When I take out the PCX card and use a ATI PCI card it works fine, any ideas?? D34N 0 Posted December 10, 2004 They 70.90's are out... Not really sure if that will help.
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Thanks, tried 70.90 and 66.93's still no luck. I have even tried other various settings in OFP such as disabling HWT&L any other suggestions would be great Mike
Placebo 29 Posted December 10, 2004 Probably not relevant but you seem desperate Are you using -nomap? What's your Aperture size set to? (assuming like AGP cards they have some kind of aperture size?)
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Not using -nomap, the game it self loads fine, and I can start playing any of the maps, it will randomally reboot however. Unfortunatley with PCI-X there is no apparture settings to configure. I'm not sure it's drivers as I have a pci card that I used as an experiment with same drivers and it plays fine, however lousy graphics as the card is only a 64MB PCI card :-(
Placebo 29 Posted December 10, 2004 What about heat? What power supply are you using?
D34N 0 Posted December 10, 2004 Try changing you setting on Fast Writes?
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 10, 2004 I'll try the fast write settings tonight, as for heat I have a 500W 24PIN ANTEC powersupply, usually I'm around 35C for a system temp
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 25, 2004 still no such luck, tried just about every combo of video and other bios settings. Is anyone else running a 6800GT PCX graphics card and 1.96??
Mr_Tea 0 Posted December 25, 2004 Do you use Win9x, WIN2K or WINXP?

D34N 0 Posted December 25, 2004 Quote[/b] ]still no such luck, tried just about every combo of video and other bios settings. Hmm.. I"m running out of ideas.. have you tried the Omega Drivers?, What was the last card you had?, I presume you used driver cleaners?
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 25, 2004 nope, i have't tried the omega drivers yet. the last card I had was a ati 9800 agp, this was a new board/video card/ reformat of the Hard Drive etc...
Guest Posted December 26, 2004 Is it only with OFP that it doesn't work or other games as well?
cpthyland2 0 Posted December 26, 2004 It's only OFP. I did however make some progress with the use of -nomap, however now it crashes randomally. I have tried to modify my config file for optium settings with no such luck. One moment I can launch battlefields, and start running, then BOOM - reboot, the next time, I might get BOOM reboot, just trying to launch battlefields. berghoff 11 Posted December 26, 2004 Not using -nomap, the game it self loads fine, and I can start playing any of the maps, it will randomally reboot however. So you are running ofp with the -nomap command? Or not? edit: nevermind .
B-2-0 0 Posted February 2, 2005 I am having the same problem i think. I am playing through the campaign again and it seems to happen at the same point in the mission i am currently on....full PC re-boot. It also happens on a few SP missions i have tried but some missions work fine. Are you sure it's to do with the video card? I have a sneaky feeling it has something to do with DX. I am running an ATI X600 PCI Express card. I have a brand new machine and OFP is the only game it happens with....hell, i can run Farcry maxed with no problems. It happened with the stock ATI drivers and it's still happening now i have updated to the latest ones. I have tried lowering graphics settings etc. Any ideas? nubbin77 0 Posted February 2, 2005 This is troubleing considering that I'd like to upgrade to PCI E sometime in the future. But I'd never upgrade at the expense of losing OFP.
Mr_Tea 0 Posted February 2, 2005 B-2-0 do you use WinXP with SP2 to?
B-2-0 0 Posted February 2, 2005 Yup. The crash seems to happen when there is quite a lot of fire going down....i have noticed that a lot of the time it happens whilst firing multiple AP/HE rounds from a BMP 2. Â This is followed by a repeating of the sound of firing for a few seconds then the re-boot. Nubbin, as i said earlier, i am not entirely convinced it is a PCIE problem, it may be a DX issue but i have not yet had a play around in that dept. Â I will do so when i get home. Â Is there anyone who is running OFP on a PCIE card with no problems?
FLitzer 0 Posted February 11, 2005 Try turning off DX sound accelerator...slow sound but no more reboots. Seems that the rapid fire armor audio files dont agree with something, maybe the new HD audio chips. p5gd2 mobo 6600 graka Peace.
NKVD 0 Posted February 14, 2005 I hate to be unoriginal but it seems like you either have weak powersupply or your system is overheating... What cooler you use and how much WATTS you've got ? I had the same problem as you (as I understand)...sound would loop several seconds and then reboot..fixed all of my problems with getting brand cooler and 550WT power supply... FLitzer 0 Posted February 16, 2005 Negatory...more power no effect And i had temp on 80 degrees but now it wont go over 55 degrees.
