Matthijs 40 Posted October 28, 2004 Today, the Mercedes Benz 290GD was released to the public. This is the soft-top variant, as used by airmobile brigade an commando troop. The model is based on the BWMod Mercedes, but has been improved by slighly reducing the number of faces, and adding 4 resolution LODs, which should noticably improve overall performance. The MB has random license plates and comes with several types of decals. There is also a generic "international" version, that have no country-specific markings. Moreover, you can assign your own bitmaps to the license-plates, flag, unit symbol and door-banners using the settexture command. You can find the international version under West-->Cars. If you know how to handle Photoshop, but need some help when it comes to creating good bitmaps, you are in luck. The download also contains a few templates for license plates and unit symbols. Head over to our downloads section, and get yourself a Wolf! [ LINK ] Note that our downloads span 2 pages!
lee_h._oswald 0 Posted October 28, 2004 Big thanks. I have driven that car during my time at the Bundeswehr. (But the long version.) Downloading now. MfG Lee Little bug, as in the old BWMOD version: With low fps the car starts shaking. I have read here in the forums, that there is a soloution found for this. Something like "remove the wheels from the GEO LOD".
king homer 1 Posted October 28, 2004 Looks good. Downloading now. I like the Dutch cars and tanks. Maybe because they are German
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted October 28, 2004 You're right K.Homer. Most of our equipment (army) is indeed german. That's not bad; the german stuff is among the best! Many development programs for new equipment are done in together with gerany (and other countries). Nice jeep
HotShot 0 Posted October 28, 2004 Nice addon, now the troops have some transport Like all the customisation available for it, particuly Banner as can be from any force pretty much i guess (the FIA will be getting an upgrade...). the number plate thing would be good for that cops and robbers mod (its really old, forget the name). Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 29, 2004 Which map is this? Is it self made? The reason why I am asking are those nice little slopes you see on the mud-track to the left. I always asked myself my the developers never created dirt roads the way they are, with slopes, holes and bumps. Everyone who played OFP in and out notices that this road looks damn realistic. I cant realy talk about the Benz cause I already knew it from BW-Mod and never had performance problems, but I am sure you did some wise modifications. Albert Schweitzer 10 Posted October 29, 2004 The terrain is the "Leusderheide" military training area by Wouter. Download it from the same page. Thank you very very much I hope you know what I meant when was talking about bumps in the road!
Cpt. FrostBite 0 Posted October 29, 2004 A little off-topic; bumps in a road is actually very difficult to archieve. The easiest way to get a bumpy terrain is to set terrain detail to max. If you set it lower the terrain will be less bumpy. So it's not so muct the mapmaker that can make a map bumpy (and you can't make a little bumps in the terrain, the smallest 'bump' you can create is 50x50 if I remember correctly) but try the map out. I'm sure you'll like it. It's a great map with a lot completel different area's. Ideal for ground combat (infantry and armour)
Matthijs 40 Posted October 29, 2004 Triangles are 6m on the straight sides as a minimum. Then again, at that resolution OFP will be a good looking slide show.

Get it here: http://www.jasc.com/ For 'only' 119 dollars that's gonna be one expansive licence plate, Matthijs. I don't think the guy will like your answer  The Dutch military does not use the same trucks as the german military. Only the Royal Netherlands' Marine Corps have purchased some Unimog-trucks to go with the LPD Rotterdam (The standard trucks were to long and couldn't get in the ship  ) edit; the Unimogs used have a double cabin, which has not been made by the MMP-mod.
