making a "do anything you want mission"

Im making a coop mission that features keycats group link script 1.91 and its on Everon and uses a bunch of the best objects and editor addons around for 1.96 and right now i got a airport that is in the making and i have made a small harbour and also a small artillery base and a convoy that is driving around and have stared on some checkpoints also.

The mission is just to move around the island assaulting different positions or just do it really clean and stealthy without getting to much attention..   biggrin_o.gif

wich is going to be hard on some places when you encounter the special scripted a.i's. My question is , what do people want me to make in the mission, some small or big camps with tents or big bases wtih mapfact baracks and tanks parked and stuff like that or more boats patroling around the coastlines or just more scripted a.i groups that can be called in by the enemy a.i to fight you when they have detected you. Whats on peoples minds?

I like this type.

Try not to place too much stuff, especially not at one spot, cause it will get laggy.

Small camps spread around the island, patrols, ranger teams that walk around constantly but set up tents at night and stay until sunrise (can be scripted if you can be arsed), etc...

I'd like to see a patrol, if you can, of jeep mg's, that come from the bases to respond to problems when they arise. They'll go to the problem and scope you out and then move in for the kill. Any vehicle with a machine gun will do but lots of them.

thx for replies smile_o.gif i'll see if i can add the bas russian opfor uaz's and brdms with mg's. They are a bit more harder if things get very bad biggrin_o.gif

yeah good idea with having mobile squads waiting in some bases to go to the hot spots when the enemy detects you tounge_o.gif got a few chopper bmp squads ready to move in already biggrin_o.gif

yeah i have fixed some more mobile squads and also added the brdm's uaz's with machineguns biggrin_o.gif and also made a group of 3 mg uaz's that can come after you if you are unlucky tounge_o.gif

really cool because they will drive close to you and disembark any soldiers not driving or being gunner and then everyone will move in for the kill wink_o.gif

i have added 2-3 boat groups that just patrol a small island in the south west and also patrol the north eastern - eastern coast lines. I have dem filled up with aditional soldiers btw does any one know of any easy way to make them go D-day beach assault on your team when they have dected you close to the beach. I want them to patrol and when they spot you they will drive fast towards your direction unload troops when they get within a safe distance to the shore and then go after the players.. wow_o.gif

Sounds cool. Kind of like what I was doing with my template. I realized a couple of things that I want to do with my template - I had complaints of lag because of so many units. I probably did go overkill, but the idea was to have more than needed so extra could be deleted (always easier to remove then add).

Anyway, good luck, I am looking forward to it, expecially the part about the boats.

yeah well boats are just patroling some of the shores , i haven't figured out the whole thingy how to get the a.i to cancel their patrol and go after the player tounge_o.gif

Yeah well the mission is really tense and stuff even without any story on it yet. For now its just a couple of places that are built up and the super cool script that really enhances the mission. Im planning to add custom music to the mission maybe but i that will be added this weekend or sometime next week possibly. I haven't got it tested with players yet but only tried it alone in the editor and things worked pretty good.

okay i tried the mission with a friend today in Lan , but we only tried it like 6 times and we died trying every damn time tounge_o.gif first insertion we made was with chopper and parachuted to the main land near the coast, cheeze a mi-2 came along firing on us and landing and droping spetnaz on our heads biggrin_o.gif the whole insertion went to the history books when we got detected and i took aim with my m60 that i somehow retardedly had grabed and started spraying at the chopper and everyenemy around it like nuts crazy_o.gif

got 3 enemies and made the chopper cough black smoke and then got wasted by a wounded spetnaz soldier mad_o.gif

second attempt with a mark 2 bpr instead went decently until we saw a russian boat and my friend started firing at it with the m2 , short story a rocket flies above our heads and we tought it was a rpg soldier who missed so i step on it faster but to late boat gets smashed to pieces by a mi-2 that we failed to see when we were focused on chasing down the east boat biggrin_o.gif okay third time we take the boat but instead we take a more sneakier way in and drive up the boat to the beach instead of go messing with other boats tounge_o.gif

we disembark and then get to the factory area and we can hear the mi-2 flying around but we get past undetected and then shoot our way in to the industrial area where we meet a civilian and then we take a car and drive it quickly near the enxt stop wich is a artillery base but on our way there we get spotted by a sniper team and they call in backup!!! wow_o.gif

shit breaks loose once again and we abondon the car that gets poundead heavily by a mi-24 and we start fleeing to the nearest forest but we can't make it there before the mi-24 wasted our sorry asses in a ffar rocket spray tounge_o.gif

after dying another time or two we actually did make it inside the base and we did manage to destroy the artillery gun but we then found ourself surounded , outmanned and outgunned biggrin_o.gif the mission is a tough one were stealth and some fast moves and also a bit of good hearing rock.gif

I made a mission similar to this one time where you were a resistance soldier on Nogova and you started out with crap weapons so you had to fight take your shotguns and fight to get AKs. Then use those to get RPGs. Then use those to take out and capture armor. There were Mech Infantry squads set on guard in several towns.

Anyway my story was I ambushed a convoy and killed everyone in it. As I was taking weapons I look on the hill about 100m behind me and realize that 3 BMPs just came over it. I start telling my men to hide as they are unloading their troops. We didnt make it.

Anyway my point was that these missions are so cool because you never know whats going to happen and you just have so much freedom but they are also very time consuming and after a while can get very laggy so just be careful about that.

yeah got experience with earlier missions made biggrin_o.gif

this one handles pretty well on my computer so far

had a few issues yesterday when i was going to beta test it with a clan mate that tonal pack stuff had slipped in tounge_o.gif

i thought the stationary aa turret was from the rusopfor pack that had the uaz and brdm with mg's smile_o.gif

Have to make a readme with thx to people and so on when and if i release it public when i iron out all bugs and make the mission perfect as i can tounge_o.gif

What we need are more dynamic missions. A mission with objectives strewn across a map is all fine and dandy, however adding some scripts that actually change and allow for user interaction to decide how some changes are made would be a lot better in my opinion. Giving the AI a semblance of intelligent decision making and resources to appropriate to counteract the advances of a player would increase the replay value in my opinion.

i've added a couple of places where the enemy a.i can surprise the players really well imo biggrin_o.gif and some ofthe beta testers say that the mission got very difficult when the a.i was unpredictable and without jam hd weapons tounge_o.gif

once the artillery base looked almost empty so we took care of 2-3 guards entered the base and moved up towards artillery position and put a satchel to it and deestroyed it.

The events after that was that a group that is part of the script heard the explosion and comes running towards us and a couple of bullets are fired from us and them, we take care of

10 soldiers or something when we suddenly start to hear some mechanized groups aproaching.

a very few minutes later a bmp comes and unloads soldiers that start search and destroy after us and ifnot worse a mi-2 nice addon chopper with a pk machinegun on the side like the blackhawk has a mg machinegun and also a 20 or 30 mm cannon that can only fire straight from the nose or something .

It rips through the squad and we and the remaining a.is run for the forest when the chopper makes a quick turn and lands quickly unloads a bunch of spetnaz and fly up and they go after us really seriously pissed of especially after we tried to nail the chopper pilot with a mag or so from the xms tounge_o.gif

they nail the thre remaining soldiers and i shout in wrath that i lost and im purely amazed by the a.i script i use. Im thinking that the mission maybe should be made easier by removing a couple of groups from the script or mission but then what if there are other players that are better than me and somehow takes care of some heavy resistance and then find out that was that it? biggrin_o.gif so i think i will keep the mission dead hard.

I only increased number of soldiers / playable soldiers in the players squad from 6-8 because of the difficulty of the mission.

oh hi guys! Sorry haven't posted anything here for a while, been busy with school and friends , and with a ofp clan but i have bailed from the clan because time was running short  tounge_o.gif

I'll do some minor improvements and bug fixes and then put it on a webbsite , i would like to add some music to it but filesize of mission would get 1-2 mb's but i can release a light version with no custom music first so you can get to try it.

its pretty addon intensive but i think that many of the addons are good qualiy stuff, most of them are building and object addons like agent smith industrial pack and mapfact airport stuff and military objects pack  smile_o.gif  and a few others by those addon makers and teams.  wink_o.gif

expect release tonight if im not to drunk to do any good  crazy_o.gif   biggrin_o.gif

my internet at home is down since 4 bloody days back :P and i don't got a clue how to fix it... will call customer support next week to se if they can help me out tounge_o.gif

Briefing is there and the objectives are there and you got to choose wich transport you will use to insert into the mainland of Everon. Here is straight from the readme what you need.
