BOP_101TFS 0 Posted October 15, 2004 Quote[/b] ] It's no secret that the U.S. Army has been tapping into the talents of the game development community to create training simulations for their troops. The recent Full Spectrum Warrior game was one such simulation, re-purposed into a commercial game. But it's certainly not the last. An even more ambitious project developed by Quicksilver entertainment is currently looking for a publisher, under the working title of War Dogs. .... nephilim 0 Posted October 15, 2004 lol ;D but its so id only whish that ofp had such awesom graphix like doom3 or atleast some features like self shadowing, accurate shadow adn light projection, bump mapping did i say bump mapping? haha i have that in ofp so ... who cares ofp/vbs = best! Heatseeker 0 Posted October 15, 2004 lol ;Dbut its so id only whish that ofp had such awesom graphix like doom3 or atleast some features  like self shadowing, accurate shadow adn light projection, bump mapping did i say bump mapping? haha i have that in ofp so ... who cares ofp/vbs = best! ...or that doom3 had 25 km2 islands and 2km+ view distance Honestly all that bump mapping and shadding makes it look quite unrealistic not to say i dont know how it would run with 50+ a.i units running at the same time (if somehow those would fit into the small interior maps) . I think OPF/VBS would go better with AA:O's animations, models and physics other than shiny graphics but that's problably just me . Oh and the game looks interesting, we could also use a better squad comand interface in OPF .
nephilim 0 Posted October 16, 2004 who said d3 is meant realistic? never seen demons around my flat... u know actualy wot bump mapping is? it improved my ofp quite much since ive applied it to my (ofp!!) models etc but also shadows of an object thrown by a light source such as vehicle lights would be quite cool in ofp and as far as i remember there was a discussion bout this in the dxdll forum ;) in other terms i agree with u d3 is NOT the most inovative game sure its a normal 08/15 shooter with a very linear gameplay and isnt NOT compareable to ofp in any way well u could discuss about teh reflections in ofp and d3 but that sth else... Quote[/b] ]I think OPF/VBS would go better with AA:O's animations, models and physics other than shiny graphics but that's problably just me . so u dont like the dxdll or cfgMaterials? hmm... id be pleasd to have reflectiosn on any objects besides water and static flat objects aswll as the self shadows etc but prolly thats just me ;P cheerio
Heatseeker 0 Posted October 16, 2004 Sry Neph, what i meant is that i prefer photorealistic textures over all those shadded, shiny stuff seen on D3, FC or blood Rayne, i think high quality textures (ala Max Payne2) give gaming worlds a much more realistic efect more suitable and practical for OPF in my opinion. Quote[/b] ]but also shadows of an object thrown by a light sourcesuch as vehicle lights would be quite cool in ofp Splinter Cell? Indeed, but what about map size, unit quantity (OPF is quite large scale) and performance, reflections and PP already give my OPF quite a drop in frame rates, is current pc tech powerfull enough to render all that in size and quality I dont think we will have all that even in OPF2 unfortunetly, though if i could pick where to waste precious hardware resources, gameplay, physics and colision detection would be my priority choises (proper solid buildings to interact, bouncing grenades of walls, etc). Considering there arent many units displayed on screen at the same time and that D3's MP only supports 4 players i think thats not the way OPF should be headed though i would definetly like to have a improved unit body model in OPF . nephilim 0 Posted October 16, 2004 hmm ye sure that foto realsitic stuffs better but they jsut do look better whit a bump map or shine effects cuz without them they look kinda "flat" even though photorealistic and witht teh bumps and shines u can camo that but anyway lets wait for ofp 2 and lets get back on topic
