GoOB 0 Posted October 6, 2004 He was just a funny guy and hardly worthy a thread in this forum! I think I'll go to the graveyard and say the same thing to someone mourning their deceased friend. "He was just your best friend, who worked in a retail store. Hardly worth a stone in this field!" Some people loved this guy, even if they didn't know him. I don't think you are able to tell who is "woth" a thread in this forum. Afterall, it is a few simple lines of text. For a human being.
brgnorway 0 Posted October 6, 2004 There are so many everyday heroes around who seldom receives any appreciation despite all their good deeds! Why should a person who was lucky enough to live a good and long life be missed so much when there are so many others to consider? Balschoiw 0 Posted October 6, 2004 I´d say we all calm down for a second , take a deep breath and keep in mind that the OFP community consits of a lot of people of different countries who all have their unique heroes and idols. Now if some of these idols or heroes die we should just step aside a second and just be gentle for a moment. You know when the swedish foreign minister was killed noone actually knew what has happened and that it was a big loss to europe, but as the thread came up people got interested in her, at least some, and honored her work and personality. OFP community has never been a country-bound-one when it came to such things and therefore I do urge you to just step aside, take a deep breath and tolerate that people do have feelings for their people. I guess that´s what this community is about after all these years. Respect, tolerance and the acceptance of foreign cultures in any way. At least that´s what I hope it is. I don´t know this guy either, but I have to respect that people see it as a loss that he died.

I have only one more thing to say in this thread and that is: This makes me sad: Quote[/b] ] One canadian crewmember has died (in canadian submarine thread) .Whereas this doesn't make me sad: Quote[/b] ]Comic Rodney Dangerfield Dies at Age
The Frenchman 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Who's that? ? ?I mean, why is it sad when someone have lived their life to the full and dies at the age of eighty something? Christ - people die all the time - what's the big deal? "I don't get no respect" Zing!
daithi 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Jeeez ... when I die I hope it doesnt get posted here ... I'm a nobody ..but dont tell my kids ..mother or my family that cos they'll fight tooth and nail to for me ..and some people here seem to think that unless you are "somebody" you dont deserve recognition Rodney Dangerfield was a fine comedian made me laught more than once and his death saddens me ... he may not have been known world wide but he does deserve more than a passing mention here
Balschoiw 0 Posted October 6, 2004 Quote[/b] ]Whereas this doesn't make me sad: brgnorway...it´s not a matter of makinf especially YOU sad. You didn´t get my post, did you ? So in easy words: TOLERANCE, STEPPING BACK WHEN OTHERS MOURN AND JUST STAY OUT IF YOU DON´T FEEL THAT WAY. Sorry for the use of bolds, but sometimes only the hammer can make the nail go into the wood. We already know that you currently quit smoking, but that is no reason to trample on feelings of others. Wake up your dog and take him around the block...maybe twice, okay ?
hellfish6 7 Posted October 6, 2004 It's sad when anyone dies, whether you know them or not. This thread has served it's purpose. Rest in peace, Rodney and Lieut. Chris Saunders. The world was made a better place while you were here.
