der bastler 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Something with the num block iirc. 1? 7? I never understood why the PC version only got poor graphics and sound whereas the Amiga version had a nice background pic and cool sound effects...

Balschoiw 0 Posted October 4, 2004 Quote[/b] ]I never understood why the PC version only got poor graphics and sound whereas the Amiga version had a nice background pic and cool sound effects... I remember my uncle showing me the game on his ultra lightspeed PC. A few weeks later I got it for Amiga and his eyes popped out :-) Amiga dominated the gaming sector at that time...along with Atari ST of course... Well at least my uncle could do some nice Mandelbrot fractals  Edit: If I have to edit this message for the 3rd time because of some stupid typos I will eat my keyboard... Colossus 2 Posted October 6, 2004 i recently download wings of fury, one of my old favorits, but somehow i can't even take of from the carrier  how does this work again? I know why, becouse your computer is too good. It's true, I have read it somewhere but I can't remember where  I have also tried the good old Wings of Fury but it dosen't work becouse my computer was too fast for the game So the only way to make it lift off is to buy an old computer or download a program that slows you computer down. But then again that program is making damages on you computer. PS: About that ¨Illigal¨ downloading, I'm not sure it's Illigal at all becouse it's an abonden game that nobody owns anymore. EDIT: This brings me alot of good old memories EDIT #2: I never figured out how to use torpedos. Anybody?
Colossus 2 Posted October 6, 2004 Here is the problem: Quote[/b] ]BTW running this game on a modern PC is not easy. Taking off from your carrier is impossible if your processor speed is too high. To solve this problem I used Moslo and disabled the cache memory of my PC (edit BIOS). Be sure to make a boot-disk because starting Windows without your cache memory will take ages, and the game runs in DOS only so who needs Windows anyway. Badassdom 0 Posted October 6, 2004 to use the torpedo's you have to fly a few meters above the water (its a torpedo, to sink ships) if you fly to high it will be destroyed on impact with the water. also you have to be pretty close to the ship when you release it, cause it has a limited range when you've dropped it
der bastler 0 Posted October 6, 2004 You might try DosBox. http://dosbox.sourceforge.net Open source, multi platform (Win, Linux, MacOS, FreeBSD...). Quote[/b] ]DOSBox is a DOS-emulator that uses the SDL-library which makes DOSBox very easy to port to different platforms. DOSBox has already been ported to many different platforms, such as Windows, BeOS, Linux, MacOS X...DOSBox also emulates CPU:286/386 realmode/protected mode, Directory FileSystem/XMS/EMS, Tandy/Hercules/CGA/EGA/VGA/VESA graphics, a SoundBlaster/Gravis Ultra Sound card for excellent sound compatibility with older games... You can "re-live" the good old days with the help of DOSBox, it can run plenty of the old classics that don't run on your new computer! DOSBox is totally free of charge and OpenSource. Check our "Downloads" section for the most recent DOSBox version
