Dedan 0 Posted September 30, 2004 The genious addonmaker Colonel_Klink is working on a new project called Dynamic Interactive Buildings (DIB). Basically it'll allow us to interact with objects or destroy specific parts of a house, like breaking windows, doors, or even walls, to finally see the whole building collapse instead of having standard OFP engine destroyed model! As he's explaining what it is on his DIB FAQ, it's not just the standard OFP features like the normal opening and closing doors, ladders, AI paths etc, but it includes much more; a DIB structure has windows that can break, doors that react to bullets and explosives, wall sections that can be blown apart or crumple realistically when hit by mortar/tank or aircraft ordinance. Debris that forms in line with the level and type of damage that occurs to the building. Realistic fire and smoke effects. If Colonel_Klink can fully implement it, it's one more big OFP limitation that will be pushed away!!! More technical info on his DIB FAQ, more pictures of the DIB system in action on his DIB screenshot page and finally other features and demo of the DIB system in his DIB dedicated forum. berghoff 11 Posted September 30, 2004 wow that looks nice! No more opening doors the normal way, just blast em away After the reflective water and transparant water now this, amazing. Nice work Colonel_Klink!
gandalf the white 0 Posted September 30, 2004 wasn't this posted in antoher topic here? btw it would be nice to let one guy fire a hole out of a door, and fire in a rifle-grenade... WHAM!
Apollo 0 Posted September 30, 2004 Klink is one of my hero's ,he can marry one of my sisters. (anything to get them of the street ) Anyway ,just like i mentioned in the other thread this will be wonderfull and and eternal thx for Klink to activly trying to work around Ofp limitations. It looks great as it is already. Just another question though ,will the effects of destruction also abbide to gravity? i mean like you have a 3 story high house and you destroy most of the ground level ,will the building collapse on it's whole?I figure as its stands not yet ,and implementing that would be another head-breaker ,on the other hand it would be kinda weird if you would totally waste the ground levvel that the 2 above levels would hover over the ground. Not that ,if this would be an unavoidable effect ,that you have to leave this great project for this matter alone ,it's a great addition.
MiG2003 0 Posted September 30, 2004 Hope that Col KlinK succeed with this new project. That's one of the game major limitations

stevevcb 3 Posted October 1, 2004 Bloody hell, no hiding behind doors during firefights for me! Amazing work! The last few months have seen more workarounds for engine limitations than the first two years! Multiple guns on boats, roof-mounted machine guns on tanks, reflective water and postprocessing, working bayonets, and now destructible buildings! Klink deserves a medal
Junker 0 Posted October 1, 2004 while your at it make the building crumble when it is destroyed and not go a weird shape like the original ones do  But to be honest with you all they had to do way put a new house over a destroyed house, when it get demolished it slids underground exposing the DESTOYED house (But there will be alot of dust covering this bit:)
