guttersnipe 1 Posted September 16, 2004 Call in a few favours if I may... I'd really like a few Scottish Pipers please....... to lead my brave Highlands etc into battle. Form - look at the average Angus in a kilt in a pipe band for the effect. Functionality - 1) some nice tunes 2) if possible (sure some smart bod can work this out) can he have some kind of combat enhancing effect within earshot(similar to officer's on moral/likelyhood of 'breaking under fire') & weakening effect on the enemy ?(quaking in their jackboots at the sound of the approach of the fercious highlanders) (anyone who has seen 'The longest day' will know what i mean). 3) he should only ever be capable of walking pace/standing 4) if he dies, not only does his group loss all benfits, but they should become more brittle... Additional - guest those guys in the american civil war mod could use similar for their standard bearers etc
Parker Hale 0 Posted September 16, 2004 A very interesting idea indeed because moral does play a huge part in how a unit behaves under certain situations. Standard bearers, pipers and drummers have been a vital part of military engagements in the past in terms of moral boosting etc (not so much in modern warfare though). Good luck with the idea. bmgarcangel 0 Posted September 17, 2004 One question..how are you planning to do this? have a soldiers with a weapon...say bag pipe, then like have whenever you fire the gun then it plays the music and his hands perhaps move around on the thing when you press the fire button and stuff.....sounds like a great idea i just want to see this one come true..... Perhaps we can make a To End All Wars mod too ya know. Oh ya and for the weapon, have like different ammo with different noise and stuff. Like one magazine can be Amazing grace and the other one can be something else... ~Bmg

Parker Hale 0 Posted September 18, 2004 Quote[/b] ]english dont have pipers only we scots have them and where not brits where scotish Hi fart nark, I am English and I adore the sound of the bagpipes as they remind me of my family roots ( I am decended from the Scottish Fraser clan and am also part Dutch on my mothers side ). Music plays a valuable part with many regiments both nationally and internationally ranging from a simple bugle to all out bands etc. The power of music is a language in itself and can be used to effect many emotions within us and it is this corelation to which i am refering to in explaining the moral boosting effect upon soldiers on the field of battle. I am a musician myself so I do know about how it works. As an example just imagine how one of the battle scenes from the LOTR films would feel if the music was changed to that of a more subtle and serene tone. bmgarcangel 0 Posted September 19, 2004 Bravo my man, bravo. The bagpipes i believe is one of the best musical instruments and always makes me feel....i don't know. Closer to people, closer to my country, closer to people who die for it. Its just something about how it plays, how it sounds that...is just needed...for me to live. ~Bmg
pzvg 0 Posted September 20, 2004 Kinda on/off topic, but, In the Movie the Longest Day, did ya know the role of Piper Millian was played by Himself? As for musical choices, t'would na be a Highland regiment wi' out Black Bear laddie

Parker Hale 0 Posted September 24, 2004 Hi Fart-Nark, Bagpipes are not entirly exclusive to scotland as several cultures have instruments similar in nature. Here is a link to a very interesting site all about bagpipes: http://www.hotpipes.com/main.html Enjoy Parker Hale Edit.... The pipers name from the film was William Millin and he was uncredited.
