BigRed 2 Posted August 31, 2004 As long as I have played OFP (since it was released in the States) I have never seen BIS or Codemasters host any MP tournaments for OFP. Why is that? Well I know the men and women for BIS are very busy but how about a little love for MP. Here what I suggest: A C&H Tourny (Why C&H because it will eliminate alot of ties) Minimal players 6 v 6 more if both teams agree. No Addons only those that came with the game. Maps: maybe the top maps from the Map competition given they were C&H. Rounds: 1 time on East, 1 time on West, add the scores from both games. Elimination: Single 1 loss and your out Servers: the MP community has plenty of them so teams that don't have one or teams that chose to play on a nuetral server can post here or somewhere else where every BIS decides. Now I know this is long shot but I really think it would bring a little something back to the MP commuinty since they were crushed about the news of OFP2 2006. If BIS saids they haven't the time for this I understand I was posting this knowing there wasn't much of a chance but I thought I would try. Maybe the winning team could win one copy of VBS for each member of there team. The way they could do it is each team leader would have to send them the team roster and addresses of players prior to the tourny. If your not in to MP player or need a team this isn't the thread for you.
Balschoiw 0 Posted August 31, 2004 Why not add some CTF´s that are handed in before the tournament to choose from ? Personally i think CH maps are a bit boring most of the times...just my opinion. But I like the idea.
Placebo 28 Posted August 31, 2004 I think for now my hands are full enough with the Mission Editing Competition
BigRed 2 Posted August 31, 2004 The reason I said C&H is because in CTF's when teams don't know the map or can't get the others teams flag they tend to camp there own but on a C&H the teams have to run and gun because you have to get to the flag. If they don't they can sit there and watch the other teams score grow.
CrackerJack 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I think it´s a great idea, all swec wouldnt mind having VBS CD´s   there are people that can make addons and missions but there are people who JUST PLAY the game.
Gadger 0 Posted August 31, 2004 Sounds great! Placebo, put WE8 down and do your job! Â Maybe create a new thread where teams can "sign-up" to make sure there is enough interest for such a tournament?
Llauma 0 Posted August 31, 2004 My oppinion is that it's way too late for a tournament. It should have been held at least two years ago.. Are there even any active ladders left anymore?

Llauma 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I wouldn't call those especially active.. There's just a handfull of teams still playing in ladders. The peak was two and a half years ago and since that it has been going down.
Gadger 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I wouldn't call those especially active.. There's just a handfull of teams still playing in ladders. The peak was two and a half years ago and since that it has been going down. Why, each one has atleast 12 active teams? I'd say that handfull is much nearer the 50-60 mark altogether, maybe even more.
Balschoiw 0 Posted August 31, 2004 I guess it wouldnt be bad to form new teams....not active clans...teams formed by forum members. Give them some maps to train on for 2 or 3 weeks and hold the tournament then. Only to make it for clans....no, doesn´t sound right for OFP community. We also could have the good old 1 on 1  Placebo...I know you´re busy with the mission editing contest, but the users here could make the preparations, discuss the maps, the teams whatever...we just need your sheltering BIS hand and some girls and cars for prizes  No Skoda !   What do you think ? I mean is there interest for such ?

CrackerJack 0 Posted September 1, 2004 Gadger thats alot clans to kick ass, but I don´t think such competition would be sponsored by BIS, there aint nothing in it for them. But Scripting competition gives ideas how to build new missions for OFP

guerilla -MCY- 0 Posted September 10, 2004 this is a great idee here and would give ofp a little kick in his ending days, we could propably use some of those 15 multyplayer maps, which were send into this Map Editor Tourney of BIS.

Placebo 28 Posted September 11, 2004 Wanted to see if anyone was awake on Monday It will take some time before we decide on a winner, how large an amount that some is will become clearer as time progresses, currently we're right in the middle of stage 3 which is a preliminary judging stage whereby each mission is tested by a number of judges to ensure it displays a fundamental level of quality and rule abidance, stage after that is where each mission is played through fully from start to finish and rated resulting in the final ten, as you can probably imagine the stage we're in now and the next stage are the most time consuming for all concerned
