Ok this one has been hinted at etc but since i've updated my site and it includes a pic i thought i'd release some ingame screenies:

RKSLBOP-Promo1.jpg

RKSLBOP-Promo2.jpg

RKSLBOP-Promo3.jpg

RKSLBOP-Promo4.jpg

RKSLBOP-Promo5.jpg

Basically it only needs the cockpit finishing off and some bells and whistles.

wow_o.gifwow_o.gif Will you make a bersion with atgm's or aa misiles?

It seems odd that a stealthy futuristic jet like that is only armed with ffars. crazy_o.gif

In reality its nto armed with anything...its only a Technology Demonstrator.

Because its low powered (same engine as a Citation II BizJet) I decided to make a FAC/CAS version. I wasnt planning on putting any AA weapons at all. But if demand is high enough I'll add some other load outs.

I see, but I think you should at least put some mavericks with the cas version, I guess I could go without the AA misiles but mavericks or hellfires would be nice.

But can it make a cup of tea and some toast?

Only after 10 pints of Guiness and a small Light Cherry on the 3rd Sunday of every other month.

(A daft statement requires an equally daft response)

It's probably not powerful enough to carry a pair of Mavericks. Possibly a set ( 4 ) of Hellfire/Brimstones makes more sense. Other possible loads might include 4 Stinger ATAS, a pair of Sidewinder X's, or possibly Sidearm AGM's.

I can see no reason why it could'nt be re-engined with T-45 engines, or F-5E engines.

What I'd really like to know is what it's avionics/sensors/countermeasure suite is comprised of.

Well if you read the interview with the Test Pilot its a stable machine just and flys just like an other aircraft except its rather slow.

In game it flys like a souped up Cessna but is rather easy to stall if you try and turn to quickly.  The AI flies it quite well but seems to struggle to take off.

We've tested against Armour and Air to air with guns in multiplayer and its alot of fun to use.  But you have to use the rudder to get the best out of it.

As for weapons loadouts etc, as i said its got the same engine as a Citation Bizjet because of the size as much as anything else.  To put a larger engine in would severly limit its range and payload.

I'm likely going to change the CAS loadout to Hellfire and the 12.7mm Gun ditching the FFARs.  It seems more practical considering the mounting problems on the fuselage (its a very small aircraft in real terms)

Quote[/b] ]Is this like a recon or spy aircraft?

Cause it would be cool to have working cameras or something like that.

If someone could come up with a decent camera script i'd be happy to integrate it.  I've been looking for someone to collaborate with on some UAV's and my U2 pack.

If anyone is interested heres some links:

Are you going to make it more maneuverable before you release it and fix the stalling problem?

Is it possible to make it so that the pilot has a view similar to the gunner of a helo?

I know some helo's in ofp already enable the pilots to have a gunners view too, so maybe it can be done with fixed winged aircraft.

Actually I'm going to leave the Stall issue "as is". I'll add a stall warning but i think its alot of fun to fly as it is and it'll make flying in OFP more realistic.

Its one of the things I really dislike about the aircraft in OFP, they are all too sterile and all fly the same. Either that or they are impossible to fly properly.

If time allows I will do a DKM style HUD/Optics view. It does make flying at low level and at night alot easier.

On the topic of avionics etc I dont have any pics of the actual BOP cockpit so I'm using a bit of creative license and adpating the Boeing X-34/JSF twin MFD setup to fit. Since its the basis of a 5th Generation fighter (like JSF) its fair to assume it would be similar if it ever made it to combat Service.

I cant wait for this and everything else you are making, especially the U-2.

Any word on a release date?

I know ofp has an altitude limit, but are you guys thinking of making a mission like the red baron did for his space shuttle?

Release date = When its done. i cant be anymore specific than that.

I have to say that missions arent really my thing, but each aircraft will have very basic mission to introduce the addon.

are the weapon hardpoints on your bird of prey external or do you have a bay for them...

I am asuming that the BOP is supposed to have some sort of stealth characteristics, in which case external weapons loads would be ill-advised

As in the case ofthe JSF, low-observable aircraft can have external hardpoints, at the expense of a significant increase in their radar signature. When the risk of radar guided SAMs is reduced to an acceptable levels, the wings can be loaded with externally-mounted ordinance. This oviously greatly enhances the lethality and efficiency of the aircraft, increases the success ratio of sorties, and allows greater flexabilty for mission planners.

There are no internal bays in the BOP the fuselage is far too small so this means external hard points for any combat version. As I said before, its a Tech demonstrator in reality and isnt subject to some of the combat related issues.

As for 'stealth', apprently its made almost exclusively from Radar Absorbant Materials. The position of the engine also causes issues. It is almost central in the fuselage to allow for the IR suppression. This essentially kills off the idea of any internal bays.

This a new project...very early alpha atm so it'll be after Xmas at the earliest release.

RKSL-XF32-1.jpg

RKSL-XF32-2.jpg

RKSL-XF32-3.jpg

The verision shown is the VSTOL varient. All the versions will be in the final pack subject to a decent VTOL script. If any of our community feel like helping out by providing a VTOL script i'd appreciate it.

All the usual stuff will be animated plus the bomb racks etc.

Cheers

Rock

Well, it looks nice, but I don't see a use for it, seeing as it was the losing contender in the JSF competition, the F-35 having won that.

Just because it didn't wint the JSF competition doesnt mean it doesnt have a place in OFP.

So far as I know there are 2 F-35's in development - none of which appear to be doing much in the way of progress.  Doing an F32 just provides an alternative Strike plane to the community.

If you dont want to use it simply because it didn't win the fly off, dont download it when its done. But it was made as a response to a large number of requests from people that obviously have a more adventurous and less mundane approach to addons than some.

@Aviel - "very early alpha" means just that. It still is a long way from being complete.

Since the model has taken a grand total of 5.5 hours to complete and in all three configs. It has no real textures and a very basic set of scripts and around 2700 polys. Considering the entire development time i dont think its unreasonable.

The sole reason for releasing pics at this time is to solicit help with a VTOL script system.

Good to hear from u again, I was kinda worried for a while, its good to know the mods isnt dead.

I dont mean to be nit picky but why make the boing JSF? As oposed to making the lockheed JSF which won the gov contract?

Either way the boeing looks great.
