Tex -USMC- 0 Posted July 8, 2004 Yes, the orphanage/asylum was one of the most terrifying game levels I've ever played through. *shiver*
norsu 180 Posted July 8, 2004 Quote[/b] ]The only thing is theif 2 has a VERY low replayability factor.Once you have played through it, you can't play it again. It needs more random AI. You can get loads and loads of new levels for original Thiefs. Linkage: Â .Keep of Metal and Gold Quote[/b] ]If I understand things correctly you can wander around the city when not on missions? I read in a review that you can enter houses inhabited by regular citizens to steal their savings and stuff like that. And also peddle off your loot to shady blackmarket dealers Well, you can wonder around the city but it's not a one big level with dozens of locations you can break in. City part is "just" run through to next real mission.
GoOB 0 Posted July 8, 2004 Bah, they didn't have it in any of the stores I visited today... Looks like I'll have to go to Stockholm tomorrow, results for operation "Don't leave the house" are getting poorer and poorer each day!

Balschoiw 0 Posted July 8, 2004 I just had one of these moments that are hard to forget. The following things did happen when I was sitting in a dark spot and was hiding. I just got into my position because I heard steps in front and behind of me. I covered. Headhunter who is on my trail has "sensed" me. I can hear his thoughts , so I know he´s smelling something. So headhunter comes under the bridge and meets a regular passenger and kills him in shadows Now girl nearby starts to scream "Murder, murder, look at all those blood ! I get help, Murder !!" and runs off. Headhunter is disssapointed that he got the wrong one and slowly moves back to my position. Still searching. His thoughts were "I can smell him near..." Me ducking in plants and shitting my pants. I don´t even dare to look him in the eyes  Then I suddenly hear some steps on the road , running and speaking. Girl : "Here is the spot. You see all the blood ?" Guard:" Yeah he´s dead" Girl: "The murder was here" Guard: "Couldn´t hurt to check the area" *Guard searches area* Girl: "I will try to find cover" *Girls runs up a stairway and hides behind barrel* No joke Guard searches I hear steps coming back from my back and headhunter comes along Guard fights with headhunter gives him some funny names, girl screams meanwhile and headhunter gets killed by guard. Guard walks off with some dirty names on his lips and girl moves along also. Hehe, that was great ! All the AI conversation was absolutely great. It was all AI and it worked perfect. It looked very alive. The best thing was that I sneaked into a tavern soon after and found my guard coming in and ordering a beer. "You know why I´m standing here, so hold your words and gimme a beer"  Of course I knocked him out for that words in front of a lady
GoOB 0 Posted July 8, 2004 Graagh, can't wait! I love such "AI moments" By the way, how do you get your rooms dark enough to play this game? Light reflections on the screen must be awful in this game
GoOB 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Just got back from town and put the Thief 3 DVD in my DVD drive.... After a bit of installing I get this error: (The line after error: translates to; "Not enough space on drive) This inspite of my 5.2 GB of free harddrive space... Graagh! Balschoiw 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Have you got several partitions ?
GoOB 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Yes I do... The other one is only 2 gb though and only exists for o2 and a few applications my father uses for work... Well, trying it again now with two 1.5 gig games uninstalled.... EDIT: Worked, now off to install the patch and that WIN 98/ME "fix" EDIT: Gragh! Now after the patch the .EXE is fubared. Ah the joys of being a gamer
John C Flett 0 Posted July 9, 2004 I've been away from OFP a bit and Thief 3 has been the main culprit. I'd been unsure about it having been such a fan of 1+2 but I have to admit I loved it. A few cosmetic complaints and a bit dumbed down for X Box kids but still a worthy followup. Also reminded me how limited Splinter Cell ( which I'm nearly finished ) is. One of my ex girlfriends was also a fan and its given us a lot to talk about comparing notes as we've worked our seperate ways through it. And yes, the cradle gaves us both the creeps. Hope you get it working GoOB.
GoOB 0 Posted July 9, 2004 Seems to work OK now. Wee! Off into the dark EDIT: Wow, great game so far (first level and a bit of the second). Too tired to have patience enough to sneak about at this hour though. Tomorrow the damn guards will get what they deserve! Also, on level two there was a guard snoring in his bed... I was shocked as to how realistic his snoring was! My first instinct was to knock the bastard out cold... But I ignored that and proceeded to pick the chest he was "guarding"
GoOB 0 Posted July 10, 2004 By the way, if anyone have troubles running the game under win 98/ME try this (all credits to TBIRDMANN from Eidos T3 forums) Quote[/b] ]After reading many requests about a windows 98/ME fix I looked into the problem. This is a problem with the t3main.exe. The fix will only take away the Icon from the executable (Gameplay is not effected at all).Windows 98/ME can only use resource IDs that are 32556 or lower (few exceptions). This executable has a Group Icon ID of 46022. The Icon isn't needed. This is how to fix it (it works on patch 1.1 as well): 1. make a copy of T3Main.exe. 2. Get and install PE Explorer from the internet (Search on the internet for it). 3. Open the T3Main.exe in PE Explorer. 4. Go to Resources in the View menu. 5. (You'll notice in the Group Icon folder a number 46022) you can't delete it from there. Delete the "Icon Entry" folder to do that. 6. Save. This will remove the Icon from the file. You don't need an Icon to play the game. If the game CTDs while loading after the intro movies then use the install fix by copying the CDs to your hard drive and installing from there. This should get you into the game, after that you are on your own. I hope the publishers will allow this and throw those customers a bone who wish to try their luck on Windows 98/ME. Good Luck Any problems with the loading screen can be dealt with like this: Quote[/b] ][blockLoading]LoadFromResourceBlockFiles=True [source Control] UseSourceSafe=0 [Engine.Engine] UpdateGameSys=0 Great game, runs really smooth on my computer with details to the far right and some other small goodies activated
norsu 180 Posted July 10, 2004 It's pathetic that IS didn't do anything to make the game run on Win98. It wouldn't need many work hours according to hint GoOB posted.
John C Flett 0 Posted July 10, 2004 Let us know how you get on GoOB. Or I'll keep an eye open for you on the Eidos T3 forum at http://forums.eidosgames.com/forumdi....umid=
Pathy 0 Posted July 18, 2004 Love this game, brought it when it came out and completed it 2 days later A few complaints, mostly to do with hacking it up for the Xbox, but other than that, i'm pleased, and i'm a hardcore theif fan (since T:TDP)
