DracoPaladore 0 Posted June 26, 2004 The first Ground Control has been released by Sierra for free: http://www.fileplanet.com/files/140000/142438.shtml You can download it, but I think you can also order it. Prepare for a massive wait though. I still have 251 minutes left in my qeue, about four hours. *edit* Oops, my que just went to 361minutes. Jeeze, Fileplanet works alot like Windows Media Player buffering.
IsthatyouJohnWayne 0 Posted June 26, 2004 Fileplanet is a pair of oversized pants. Good news though. I like the trend towards making great old games free.
GoOB 0 Posted June 26, 2004 Fileplanet is a pair of oversized pants. Good news though. I like the trend towards making great old games free. Yep, it's actually quite a good way to spark up interest for sequels, prequels and what have you Downloading as soon as (if ever) a none fileplanet link turns up. Things like these should always be handled by fansites etc.
sanctuary 19 Posted June 27, 2004 I played only the demo version of Ground Control, Despite the interest of the gameplay with a more original concept than the average "gather tons of ressources, build tons of units then attack enemy base" you can find in 99% of the other RTS, the lack of "skirmirsh" mode made me to doubt about the life duration of the game after the campaign and so i never bought it. So i was interested by this sierra free offer, despite it was the evil fileplanet only . After waiting for 7 minutes (according to the "Fileplanet time", as in fact the waiting time was more than 1 hour and a half ;) ) , i was finally able to download the game. After having refused to install their download manager, i had the surprise to download at full speed (i was expecting fileplanet public servers to crawl as usual, like for the free Tribes 1/2 offer). A pleasant RTS game , i played 5 first missions that confirmed the good impression left by the demo version. But unfortunately , the lack of "skirmirsh" mode will not contribute to the replayability of the game , as there is only one way to accomplish every mission without any freedom. for the people interested in mutliplayer , you need to obtain a CDKey from this fileplanet url. http://www.fileplanet.com/betas/groundcontrol.aspx
