red oct 2 Posted June 17, 2004 I really can't understand this. why is there nothing being done on this? when the serbs decided to kill a bunch of albainians, everybody called it genocide and bombed the crap out of them. now we have a government supported arab militia doing exactly the same thing to people in Darfur and nobody seems to care http://www.cnn.com/2004/WORLD/africa/05/30/chad.irc/

hellfish6 7 Posted June 17, 2004 I'd like to see China get involved with boots on the ground. No, really - I mean it. They want to be a superpower and this is the perfect opportunity for them to get their feet wet in the international scene.

Also, there is alot of European countries who could stand to pitch in also instead of sittin' on the fence.

farmcoot 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Well before China does anything it needs to get over it's infatuation of reunifying Taiwan.
hellfish6 7 Posted June 17, 2004 You want Arabs intervening in a conflict between other Arabs and non-Arabs? No offense... but I think that's a bad idea. I don't trust any of them to be even handed. Jordan - maybe. Saudis, no. Morroccans, maybe, but there aren't enough of them. Iranians (hahaha) hell no! Pakistan.. too many internal problems. Egypt - not likely. Bangladesh, too ineffective. Any others that can possibly do it? Turkey maybe, but they're not much for peacekeeping from what I've seen. As for China, they're already a superpower. They just don't act like it (they DO talk like it, though). I'd much prefer China make it's grand entrance into the world of international cooperation as a peaceful force working for good instead of a leader of an anti-ASEAN/Taiwan alliance bent on conquest. red oct 2 Posted June 17, 2004 they won't do it. why they even bother to be a UN member makes me wonder. the british government on the other hand might get involved http://www.voanews.com/article....65AA1F9

They sent a peacekeeping "brigade" to Angola or the Congo, composed of an engineering battalion, a medical battalion and I think a logistics battalion. denoir 0 Posted June 17, 2004 Call France.....America is busy at the moment...... France is busy in Congo. First it was operation "Artemis" and now the follow-up that I don't recall the name of. Anywhow, France leads an EU military task force on a UN mandate there.

hellfish6 7 Posted June 17, 2004 To Sudan? Don't count on it (or don't count on it to be effective, anyways). Maybe South Africa could step in, take the lead as an African powerhouse.

hellfish6 7 Posted June 17, 2004 The RSA has it's own problems, of course (especially with that fucknut Terreblanche released from prison) but it is by far the most powerful country in Africa, politically, militarily and possibly even economically. It's got a functioning democracy, professional military and they practically shit precious metals over there. Man, I'm swearing a lot today.

If you knew me you would know why I am losing my temper, I've stuck my nose in the human mud (made of people's distress, ethnical hate, horrifying poverty, growing pademias, illeducation and putrifying bodies, no racial insinuations there) Africa is. I will not tolerate somebody who has never crossed the line which separates his warm living room from the rotting heat of such a shithole to say anything like that. I've served under my country's flag and done my share which often consisted in the sighting rotten human limbs laying accross a fucking road or unidentified bodies waiting in a mass grave as a result of human idiocy and hipocrisy and helplessness from our side. Reducing this goddamned mess as a simple political game is lame, plain lame. I could type even more, but you're not worth it and I don't feel like wasting my time today.
