Middle eastern opfor pack

Gday all...

Ive noticed talk of this elsewhere and it was recently brought up on our forums.

The idea of a midde eastern OPFOR pack incorporating many existing 3rd party addons.. and placing them into an easily accessable pack with JAM compliant weapon loadouts.

As the MIA teams focus is and has been desert area's we are very much interested in this Idea and as such I am trying to get permissions organized and help to get this done.

Im thinking of using an assortment of UCE middle east resistance and PFLP resistance units with these scarf's incorporated onto olive uniformed units also.

A mix of civilians with weapons with arabic skintones for civilian style militia (use of IDF facepacks and others also an advantage)

Others to consider.. CRS Islamic, Afghanpack units, BIB African militia (all with edits)

Addition of generic police units (and maybe vehicles)

Reskin some women models and ?SAF kid model for arabic civilians. (we are looking at some good anims to go with.. protesting maybe inc. gimballs tossers and mourning anims)

Also whether to add vehicles..

eg Sigma's excellent Iraqi tanks

Hilux w/ MG

MAAC and MARFY's quality but aging BRDM's (or VIT's)

And some relevant trucks

Im not thinking of adding anything coalition based.

Just for the civilians/resistance/east sides.

I havent gathered all permissions but am in the process of doing so.

With the impending release of a few good desert isles i think this is now required for OFP.

Something I've always wanted to see, but never hav ein ofp, is an arabic resistance/civilian in a white robe. I know that VBS1 did it, but how hard do you guys think it would be to add a few to the pack?

P.S. I love the idea of an upated, single arabic pack

neato idea.

Lost Brothers are slowly making and converting things to be most of the middle eastern units.

but only for egypt, Israel, Syria, Lebinon, Jordan and palistine.

right now I am working on civilians but i still need more middle eastern faces.. oh and a side note.

not many middle eastern countries actual us russian tanks anymore. only syria, and iran.. iraq most likely will be rearmed with US armour..

and i think lebenon still has a few russian tanks.

yemon and those other small ones us alot of us armor as well.

Also regarding the robed arabs.. Remo release an afghan pack a while ago.. some texture and lod errors but has what your speaking off..

You could improve and change some things in LT Damage's toyota hilux he made sometime ago. Im sure he wont mind and hes sometimes in these forums so hes not hard to find.

Bibmis african rebels need their LOD's fixed and some little changes here and there but nothing much.

And please make some generic guys with robes and PROPER beards.   The afgan pack that Remo made is missing two things. First are the beards wich look like black junks of plastic glued into their faces. Another thing is that they have no robes. Not all of them should wear robes but atleast some of should as robes are quite common in middle-east.

One thing that is pretty hard to make are the turbans but please try not to make just a ball in their head and texture it as a turban.  

And my final request is some high-tec terrorists. In some pictures of Hizbollah they have face camo, body armor and similar stuff. Not all of middle-east militias are just ragtag guerillas with nothing but AK-47.

The existing addons aren't enough, so you guys are gonna have to work harder in this pack than you think.

Its a peaty nobody prested the required attention to things like that before, and the ones who have basicly just made reskins.

New models is very much needed, for robes and things like that.

This sounds like a brilliant idea, and I hope you get the necesary permissions to get the pack togueder.

On a side note, you may want to use UCEs East German units for some middle east army. It have not markings and they are olive.

Just a thought.

I am actual doing away with the idf face pack.

I am making a large set of faces..

the robed guys I will be working on. kids not really. I did not want to bother with a bunch of animations. I have started with some urban arab types and working from there. I will make some arabs with pray hats and the head scraf, and maybe turban but that is really only far eastern wear..i don't think most middle eastern arabs wear those. only like afghan and maybe iran. so i might not be modeling that..

I also need to make an enterable mosque and some pray rugs.

alos i am goin to make a bunch of new buildings. some with random arabic anti-israel and anti-US spray painted on them.

along with the armor and stuff..

I have already started to fix up the toyota truck by adding a m40a1 to it. and an egyptian m1a1 etc.

most of this stuff is for lost brother mod and miles' future arab-israeli war campain..

What is a M40A1? Is it US recoilles rifle?

Well anyway what that Hilux really needs is new textures with mud, dirt and maybe a few bullet holes.

noo it is a recoilless rifle.

an old at gun normally mounted on jeeps and stuff

in black hawk down. it is like the big gun those somilis were firing.. it is like WWII, korea up till like late 70's i think.

the m40A1 sniper rifle is a USMC weapon and was made much later.

it is like saying an m1a1 was only a tank. or an m2 was only an apc. the army was terrible at using the M numbering thing.

there has been many things that have an M number shared by another.

M40A1, sniper rifle currently in use by the US Marines STA platoon.  I'm reading "Jarhead" by Anthony Swofford, good book.

Its like having a MG call M60 and a tank with the same name.

Anyway, the AT gun its just one of them things that I allways wanted in a car sense I seen BHD.

It would do "some" good to the Hilux if it get a cuple of different paint jobs and weapon loadouts.

Some of the new released civilian vehicles, moustly truks, would probabley be better than the Ural and civi truk from BIS.

right now i am gearign up on the release of egyptian, and IDF soldiers and a updated zelda pack..

so other thigns get put on back burners or i get to when i get burned out on sometihng else..

but i am working on alot of these ideas. a few are sitting on my drive in different states of readiness.

Yes M40A1 designates both the USMC main sniper rifle, and an old 106mm recoiless rifle.

Korean War era AT weapon that fires a recoilless round. It has a .50 cal spotting rifle attached that is used to predict the impact point of the main weapon before it is fired.

CT.. regarding the prayer rugs.. Have some in catintro.pbo  (working on an enterable mosque)

Also spoke to Chris Death about adding Cement walls/barriers used in Israel.. as well as the regular highway barriers.. (our forums have pics  http://ofpcentral.com/mia/index.php  )

We have a number of other building projects too.. maybe work together and share resources

RE Kids.. rather than new anims.. SAF has already done this.. all that is needed is a basic reskin (and scripts from SAFpack)

Finally if most of this is specifically for LB mod.. what r the chances of us at MIA using your models to add to our pack?

If i could find a talented modeller who has time and skill to remodel some more units then I would consider new models too..

But for now.. I will be happy with JAM compliant existing arabic units all in one pbo.  (pack can always be updated)

the kids units i was not goin to do since right now I hav enot done much of west bank or gaza maps.

i am jsut touching up the sinai map to make it more correct.

well all the units lsot brothers are makign use JAM i have made both HD and normal for arabs but only normal JAM for the IDF.

to share anything you gotta ask miles first.

I am sure he would be ok with sharing of models and project time.

there is alot of stuff I am goin to be making. some things started some things not.

as for the texrues of the toyota i was goint o ass a bunch of scribling arabic to the sides.

it will have atleast the normal MG on it and then a m40a1.. then maybe a 23mm aa guns added to it. and a few different colours.

but that is on hold.

and one thing i need is arab faces and israeli faces.

well jsut good picutres of arab and israeli people to do faces off of.
