That's because it's called a dEscription.ext, not dIscription.ext. smile_o.gif

Hi,

General it aint the right way just to ask for everything. Eventhough sure people would know the answer a little research about making missions would at least help you.

I havent asked for much just read a lot. But what you are looking for is a :

description.ext

init.sqs

since you spelled it wrong again. Sure reading takes a lot longer and takes your personal time but at the end you know what you are talking about biggrin_o.gif

There is a big diffrence between making mission for personal use and those which are ment to be public. The public ones require knowledge about mission making. The personal ones: everybody can place a chopper and some tanks and shoot them.....

Daywalker

A common problem when people try to make a description.ext for the first time is they make a description.ext.txt.

Make sure you have unchecked the box to hide filextensions for known filetypes in control panel\folder options.

Just to be sure, I'll go over how to un-hide file extensions (for those who don't know).

First, go into a drive (say 'C', for example). Then, go to Tools and click Folder Options. Next, go to the View tab and uncheck the 'Hide file extensions for known file types' box. Check your description.ext and if it says 'decription.ext.txt', remove the .txt extension and there you'll have a description.ext! smile_o.gif

Anyway if all that is unclear to make a description.ext file:

1) Open up notepad (or equivalent)

2)Put whatever code or stuff you want in it

3)Click save as

4)Now select your location

5)For the file name you have to you " marks. Make sure the name is clear first then type the filename. For example:

"description.ext"

6) Click save and there's your description.ext in your desired location

One thing you missed there, M8.

After step 5, make sure you change the "save as type" field to "All Files".  This removes the extra .txt or .doc extension when you name your description.ext ..... description.ext

*edit*

Actually, it depends on which operating system your computer has. It looks like if you have WinXP, (which I just got, boooo!) you don't need to change to all files.

When I had Win98, I had to change to all files. (and it still doesn't hurt in XP)

@ general

Enjoy the wonderful world of mission designing, and I suggest checking out as many tutorials and such as you can if you're starting.  There's a lot to know.   smile_o.gif

If you've never been there yet, check out http://www.ofpec.com for the ofp editing site on the net, IMO.

I just did a search for "description.ext" on here. There were like 20 results coming up. About what you guys are talking here.

Maybe you search/ read first. Then ask if you dont understand it.

Besides that your question declares you havent done any reading about mission making.

No go for help.

kind regards,

Daywalker

General, if you want to save time and problems with this kind of filles, I strongley recomd something to you, this tool will make mission editing alot easyer for you.

Have a look to it, I recomend it to anyone new in mission editing who wants to release stuff to the public.

It will do all this tipe of files I listed below.

Editable document types:

Script Files (*.sqs)

Description Files (*.ext)

String Table Files (*.csv)

Briefing/Overview Files (*.html)

Function Files (*.sqf)

Text Files (*.txt)

Its very easy to understand and get really fast results, but if English its not your language and you get stoked PM me and I'll gladley hellp you.

I haven't had any problems installing.

I actually uninstalled and redownload it, and then reinstall it again, and it works as a charm.

You have downloaded the one in the download link don't you?

All I can think is that you have some missing file from your Windows.

Try downloading again and then double click in the Chofpse_setup_250.msi icon to install.

Make sure you get read of the other one you allready downloaded.

I haven't had any problems, so if that don't work for you I can send mine to you.

Regards.

@CERO.

Edit

Hang on, its an MSIinstaler, check in google for it, but it should be self installing.

I don't know if any of you guys in here understand about instalers, cos I don't biggrin_o.gif
