deathsai 0 Posted March 3, 2004 Right now I am making a campaign that illustrates the actions of the U.S. Rangers, D-Boys, Chopper pilots, and convoy drivers on that day in Mogadishu, Somalia, based on the book Black Hawk Down. It isn't going to be anything flashy. I plan on using mods primarily from BAS & Tonal. I need help testing the campaign primarily, and having people adjust it, make suggestions, etc. If anyone would like to help me, leave me their e-mail address. I'll send you new versions of the mission as they become availiable.

MSpencer 0 Posted March 4, 2004 Drop me a line by PM or MSN. I've made some versions of the BotBS, and they all sucked. Hopefully, I can teach you the stuff I really screwed up on.
deathsai 0 Posted March 4, 2004 Bump, I sent you both the mission.

Joe_1911 0 Posted March 5, 2004 I have several BHD maps in developement, using the BHD final island, BAS addons, SEB Nam , and the BIB african militia. If you're interested in the missions, you can contact me on msn at Colt_M16A1@hotmail.com Keep in mind, they are still in development, none are complete. scfan42 0 Posted March 6, 2004 I'll help out beta testing as well, and with some experience with the editor I should be able to help with describing some of the problems. scfan42@ameritech.net And there's HiJacker's BHD-LeaveNoOne Island, it's not topographically accurate but the enviroment is pretty nice. He was going to make a second island, but it seems he gave up on it But maybe if you ask him he can send you the unbiniarzed stuff to help in the making. deathsai 0 Posted March 6, 2004 Ah, finally a working link after a fruitless search! Thank you. If this is better than SGH Mog, I'll transfer all the stuff from the previous missions onto this and e-mail the first mission to everyone. You said its not correct. Does it resemble SGH Mog? Because SGH has the key areas (Wolcoot and Durant crash sites, etc.) that I plan on using. A request: Can anyone do good camera scripts? I'll need someone to do intros and outros, as well as scripting to win/lose the missions.
kroky 1 Posted March 6, 2004 Ok, I'll send you the first mission. Send me some feedback, right now I'm working on the second mission. Didn't get anything. Did you write my e-mail address correctly?
kroky 1 Posted March 6, 2004 Guys I tried the BHD island but I don't see any of the user made buildings. only the standard BIS buildings. And yes I've got both pbo's (the island and the houses). so what's wrong? Ok I found out that I had two Mogadishu island on my pc. And the other one (SGH Mogadishu) is really nearly empty. deathsai 0 Posted March 6, 2004 I'm planning on maiking 2 versions of this mod, one for SGH Mog and a second for Leave No man behind. I'm going to use SGH first. The streets are wider much wider (A MUST) and the map is much less laggy than Leave No Man Behind. Right now I'm working on some adjustments in SGH 1st mission, I may not be able to send out the mission til tommorow.
scfan42 0 Posted March 7, 2004 I found This little piece of info very useful, and if I wanted to make an intro I would use it as reference.
Gollum1 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Just BTW, the BAS rangers are much more modern than their 1993 counterparts and use different weapons. At least arm the Rangers with M16's, M60's and SAWs without optics, and Deltas with...XMS'es? Well, those BIS XMs are pretty crappy so maybe you could go with the M4's anyway. deathsai 0 Posted March 7, 2004 I don't know what else to use for West Soldiers, but I have already armed the Rangers with JAM M16s and M60s, but I left the SAWs in with optics. The only mission with Delta in it will have them using their regular sniper rifles.
Gollum1 0 Posted March 7, 2004 I don't know what else to use for West Soldiers, but I have already armed the Rangers with JAM M16s and M60s, but I left the SAWs in with optics. The only mission with Delta in it will have them using their regular sniper rifles. Optics weren't around then IIRC. There is also one without optics in the De/Ra pack. The Delta sniper rifles were M21's, not M24's btw, M24's are too impractical for urban combat.
deathsai 0 Posted March 7, 2004 Hmmmm, I guess I will arm them with JAM M21s then. I'll look for the SAW without optics. And I'm going to try to do my own cutscenes for now.
sniperuk02 0 Posted March 7, 2004 theres plenty of saws without scopes inquisitors one theres one in taiwan usmg pack
deathsai 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Ok, I sent everyone the latest version of the first mission. Check your e-mails.
scfan42 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Just remembered about Laser's 1993 US Deltas/Rangers, they look like some of his earlier work and IMHO look kinda dorky, but I'll let you see which you like better. And, if I'm not mistaken, didn't they M-240Bs instead of M-60s in 93? I'm pretty sure in the movie that Nelson and Twombly had a M-249 and M-240B (not in that order). If I'm wrong I can check the movie, I got the deluxe edition over to my left. PS BAS Rangers have a M-240B as well, "BAS_JM240B" the optic-less M-249 is "BAS_JM249" and I also think that a M-14 was used instead of M-21, this I'm not very sure about, but there is a M-14 with 4x ACOG scope "BAS_JM14DMR"
cozza 24 Posted March 8, 2004 Twombly and nelson in the movie were using a SAW (Twombly) and m60 (Nelson) I dont want to be rude but ive seen many black hawk down ideas and none of them were anygood. Dont take offencice but OFP isnt built for CQB like BHD
Joe_1911 0 Posted March 8, 2004 and I also think that a M-14 was used instead of M-21, this I'm not very sure about, but there is a M-14 with 4x ACOG scope "BAS_JM14DMR" Only Randy Shugart had a M14, and it had an Aimpoint, which also happens to be in BAS I've made two Randy Shugart/Gary Gordon missions on both the SGH Mogadishu island and the BHD Leave No One Behind, neither are completeled, but bother were fairly intense when played with two people defending the blackhawk. deathsai 0 Posted March 8, 2004 Thanks for the weapons names, I'll go about putting them in right away I understand that Mog wasn't what OFP was designed for, which is why there won't be much of the wild shooting and ducking behind walls, since the AI can't use cover. It will be more of holding back waves of enemy forces. I intended to make my own Shugart/Gordon mission, except you would play as the wounded Durant in one of the missions, and you would play as a Little Bird pilot in the other portion of the mission, doing constant gun runs and dodging RPGs, that sort of thing
Gollum1 0 Posted March 9, 2004 Like I said in my mail I can't find WW2 fight positions or SGH Mogadishu anywhere. If I find them I could give it a spin. Edit: Again, M60s and M249s were used. Joe_1911, are you sure that was an m14 and not an m21? Just BTW, (ignore me if you like), to throw in my political view here, if you think BHD is..."cool", you should maybe make a mission *inspired* by it, since IMO it's a bit tasteless to turn it into an action extravaganza that doesn't even try to recreate the real events...(by your own words)and put in playable characters that actually have the names of people who were brutally killed by the mob in the end...I hope you catch my drift. Some class. My 2 cents.
Ironsight 1 Posted March 9, 2004 Joe_1911, are you sure that was an m14 and not an m21? I realy think it's an m21, anyway why don't you use the weapons of Earl and Suchey's marine assault pack, they are way better than the BIS
