I am no expert, but Kerry seems hardly a "total liberal" even by USian standards, Kucinich would be one. blues.gif

Vote for Kerry, he is by far the lesser of two evils, if you vote for Nader or not vote at all you may as well have voted for Bush because it will only help him win.

K yes it has happened..hard to say as they don't list the popular votes as much as electoral votes.

http://memory.loc.gov/ammem/today/oct04.html

And just in year 2000

http://www.archives.gov/federal....00.html

Bush didnt win the popular vote!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So what do you suggest we the people can do about it? NOTHING!

And you were saying Llauma?

The US system is that way so every state has a specific amount of votes. So Bush won because that is the system.

Okay it turned out to be the judges who had the final decision about the votes.. But that wasn't propably the wrong decision.. You need to end the election sometime and as not all the votes where okay they just followed the US law.

It's the people who elect the senators etc and they can change the system if the people aren't happy with it.

Just vote in enough people who support the change.

In fact noone won the popular vote.. half of the voters decided not to vote.

Right..only 105 million or something votes.Thats another reason they can't rely on the public.

Its the people that represent each states that has most decisions,your vote counts for popularity,they wouldn't want an unpopular president,so if only say 10% had voted for Bush that may have changed their decisions.As long as he is popular enough its ok.

Youwant to make changes on how things are ran,the idea is that you don't have to become president,you can represent your state.With that being said and knowing president doesn't have full control is certainly a more people way,it takes several people.

I haven't voted in some years,I thought with my uninformed decision might mess things up,but good thing it doesn't work that way anyways.

This topic is about whos running etc...I don't know much about any of the other ones running,I only know President Bush.

I think he represents the USA ok,he appears to be a southernish guy (im from north) but thats ok.

From what it appears I think he is somewhat too aggressive,its ok to flex your muscles and it is needed to prevent wars,but the line has been crossed a few times.

Can't let that happen,but comeon you really think he makes these decisions by himself ? He has people helping him,and its not just him but some of the others maybe,someone is letting innocent lives getting killed and you don't fight the war on terror with terror etc...

With that being said, I wouldn't be totally upset if he is president again,he just should be more carefull

He is the President of the united states of America, the most powerful man on earth. Noone has as much power to do good things around the world as he does.

The US citizens wants action.. the news on TV isn't about showing the public what has happened in the world. Their only job is to get as many viewers as possible. A victory against Iraq will get much more publicity than some reforms to improve the US economy. Bush choosed a easy way out of his real task which is to be the head of USA, not the new master of Iraq.

I know alot of americans at this forum are very well educated and they have great knowledge of what's happening in the world but the general US citizens could need a month in a reality camp so they'll learn about the world.

I know many other western countries are going in the same direction as USA.. but noone is that close yet except maybe UK.

Please, it's only happend 3 times that a candidate lost the majority vote but won the electoral vote. In 1876, 1888, and 2000.

A socialist party isn't the same as communism and definitely not a Stalin like rule. It seems like the past century the goverment has really brainwashed the US citizen to be afraid of anything even close to communism.

I know one other guy who also used this trick to gain power. ghostface.gif

With a reasonable view of socialism USA would have had a strong socialist party today considering the huge amount of citizen living in poverty.

Seize power and let the rivers run red with the blood of the non-believers.

Too late, Bush already did that.

I bet Kerry is going to be a flake and not deliver on any of his promises. I'd vote for Nader but he's never going to win because most people think he's never going to win. Maybe Kerry could make him vice president? He probably wouldn't agree to that though, because he thinks the Democrats are just as bad as the Republicans (they are).

I guess this year I'm going to vote for Jack Daniels.

Indeed, some relatives from my fathers side were killed on "white" (capitalist) concentration camps after the civil war when the reds lost.

Yes! An American monarchy is a great idea. One of the problems with having a president as the head of state is that it makes it hard for the citizens (in this case american) to distinguish between attacks on the present governments policies from attacks on the nation itself. The president represents the nation so those who (verbally) attack the president are seen to be attacking America itself (especially true amongst conservatives).

In the UK (as elsewhere) we have a monarch as head of state so even conservatives are fairly happy to see the prime minister mocked, lambasted, impugned and otherwise made to look a total fool. Theoretically the leader of government is just one of us, the little people* (he even lives in a fairly crappy little terraced house). In contrast many americans feel it would be unpatriotic to attack the government leader (not that it doesnt happen-but to a lesser extent). A King or Queen of America would solve this.

*no, not pixies

Long Live The King!

Hi all

Become an anarchist.

Only vote against those evil people (politicians).

Remeber the only vote that counts is a vote against

As an anarchist realise:

* politics dont stop when you vote.

* there is no such thing as left or right wing that is is just what the republicans and demomcrats use to fool you into believing politics ends when you vote.

* 1) you have to be an activist to get things done

* 2) you have to lobby your representative

* 3) a representative is your servant; treat them like a slave, they deserve it

* 4) if your representative has not got a heart condition and an ulcer by the time you kick them out of office you have not worked them hard enough.

* if your representative is one you voted against do four times more of the above 4 points

* you have to lie and say you voted for them even if you didn't but that you wont anymore if they dont do what you say and all your friends feel the same.

* write them letters

* phone them up

* if they dont do what you want scream blue murder

* if the do do what you want do not praise them

* i) blackmail them where possible

* ii) then when you have done with them, write a book exposing why and how you blackmailed them to make some money.

* record their every move

* dig up their history

* use the freedom of information act

* when they are dead and buried make a special visit to go crap on their grave.

I am a long term practical anachist I dont vote for representatives. I only ever vote against them.

Kind Regards Walker
