Would be a shame to see this pack die. Maybe convert it to a new eighties and nineties (no MARPAT) style USMC infantry pack instead?

i understand that. but i mean release hte units using BIS weapons. and us "mini moders" can edit the config to use say INQ weapons or USMC weapons whatever we please then smile_o.gif

i personaly want those units. those are beautiful textures on there

Farking hell... do you wanna cripple everyones pc's?!?!

6000 polys for 1 weapon == lag fest...

Just imagine what it will be like when you have entire squads of soldiers on the deck, thats 12 x 6000 = 72000 polys, just for 1 squad of troops!

Think what it'll be like with a few squads: 6 x 12 x 6000 = 432000 polys, for the weapons ALONE!

Good lods or not, that is gonna make the game into a lag fest... (see the testing that Lee H. Oswold has done, he proved that the lod switching causes more lag)

Its "recommended" that weapons dont break the 2000 poly mark, even then that is quite high...

Just some "info" for you.

A normal computer with a 128 Mb video card should be able to handle 528 of Sunchey's MFR scouts holding one SAW a peice in a town one kolgajev with a minimal slow down.

This "Fact" is done because it is still playbe on my computer (Compaq p5000 mini tower no AGP 8mb video controler celron.)

With a total of 33 MFR scouts + me as a MFR scout in a tight group in a city, all holding SAWs. At the point of 33 the gameplay began to slow down on my computer, but I could still frag semi effectively.

Hence another of my "Outlandish" mathematical problems

(Casssie, please don't even read the rest, I don't want to be hollered at again.)

If a 8mb card can handle 33 of the MFR's holding 1 saw a peice, on kolgajev.

8 goes into 128 16 times, 16 times 33 is equal to 528.

hence A 128mb card should handle 528 men with the SAWS.

Sadly, OFP does not support the use of that many units.  crazy_o.gif

As for the rest, my beta testers are 64, 128 and I belive 256 video ram. They report no lag under normal and extreme field conditions (unit/gun wise).. Also the guns they tested were in .jpg skins which ranged from 512x512 to 1024x512 and 2-3 layuts per gun... On a .paa immage the power required to render would be even less. smile_o.gif

I would also like to point out not everyone will be carying the SAW, the M60e3 is under 4000 pollies.  wink_o.gif

A note on the troops, no idea what we are gona do with them at the moment. I'm shure we'll come to a desicion.

I THINK USSOC goes like this:

USSOCOM/USSOC/SOCOM/JSOC/Big Qatar Thing (They moved it):

SPECWARNAV:

-Navy SEALs (All Teams)

-Any other little things the Navy has

SPECWARAF (I think):

-USAF Special Operations

-160th

SPECWARARM:

-75th

-2nd

-1st SFOD-(A-D)

SPECWARMC:

-FR

-SOC Capable MEUs

I believe the SPECWAR names are wrong though.

Hmm, I don't think USMC Force Recon or any other Marine Corps unit is included in USSOCOM. And none of them are labeled a "Special Operations Unit". Those are just for political reasons though.

The Marines just started a small SOCOM unit.

yeah, supposedly their operational now..I don't know if it's their official name but I've heard mention of them being called "Detachment 1" most are supposedly Force Recon Marines that went through a school created by the SEALs..not sure how much is true and how much is BS though...

@Hellfish: Roger that, the unit is called Detachment 1, I have their emblem somewhere around here. They are still training up and are to complete and exercise to be accepted into USSOCOM.

That's surprising to me considering the attitude the USMC has always maintained that its Marines are to be under the command of only other Marines. Marines are weary of outside interference.
