madmedic 0 Posted February 10, 2004 I am trying to make a script that will make afterburners kick in when the throttle is at 100% ...(to use with a joystick that has a throttle lever)... The problem is, I dont know how to make the script check the throttle position. I want it to run the script when throttle is > 99% Can anyone tell me how to make the script check this? could the "rpm" somehow be used?
MrZig 0 Posted February 10, 2004 You could use that PS2 script that BIS made so when you press E teh afterburners go on, dunno bout that throttle, I guess you could check it's speed and then kick in afterburner?
vektorboson 8 Posted February 10, 2004 The RPM thing was discussed a few times as I remember, but to my knowledge there is no possibility to check the RPM value. Only possibilty I see would be to check the fuel consumption (I think someone had this idea). You could use that PS2 script that BIS made so when you press E teh afterburners go on, dunno bout that throttle, I guess you could check it's speed and then kick in afterburner? I think that you're mixing a few things up. This afterburner script you're talking about was made by me. If you mean by PS2 the ProSphere-Script, this was made by Prospero (I think). But the thing is, that you need afterburners to gain speed, therefore it makes no sense kicking the afterburner in, when you're already at max speed.
MrZig 0 Posted February 10, 2004 I thought PS2 was made by BIS? Or it is.. I dunno, but you can use buttons like E (turbo) and assign it to kick in the afterburner script, right? that'll work.
BraTTy 0 Posted February 10, 2004 I have tried to read the rpm without success. I have a dirtbike in progress with a powerband but its unrelated as it doesnt work like a afterburner I don't have any current ideas,I don't think the fuel consumption may not work well, because the faster a vehicle travels the more fuel it consumes and letting off the throttle doesn't change it (except a plane gliding) For some recent work on fuel I did this: http://www.flashpoint1985.com/cgi-bin....ormance (scripters may notice i used a speed/time method, during much testing I wasn't getting relable results using markers and such, just needed a fairly reliable way of determining range of a fuel tank)
madmedic 0 Posted February 11, 2004 So, where would I find this "PS2" script? Did a search, nothing came up.
vektorboson 8 Posted February 11, 2004 So, where would I find this "PS2" script?Did a search, nothing came up. Well, if he meant the ProSphere-Scripts with PS2, then forget it, it's way too complicated for this specific task. But you can try mine, which you find at http://home.arcor.de/vektorboson/en/scripts.html Don't forget to install the .pbo to your addons, because I didn't fix the mission, and it requires the .pbo.
