quicksand 0 Posted February 7, 2004 Alive and well I`ll say.The main site is www.caucasus-crisis.ru , if you watched their progress you should know that they finished many addons already and fancy scripts.Zhen said on their forum that they are planing a big update. Also I`ll add that this is one of my favourite mods, they are a very talented team, see their models and texture work really amazing.I am sorry that they weren`t welcomed very well to the comunity because of childlish speculations that you`ll have to pay for their mod all though they said many times that it`s not the case, but I guess they`ll have the final word when they will realese the long awaited demo.Really can`t wait... MSpencer 0 Posted February 8, 2004 Which can be interpreted as illegal. You know, it'll be nice to see them in court. Why not just release it publically? You know why? They're greedy, and trying to take money from the OFP community. I pity them.
hellfish6 7 Posted February 9, 2004 If it's licensed, it's not illegal. Maybe they worked out something with BIS.
Messiah 2 Posted February 9, 2004 doubtful... although i do know of certain mod groups approached by BIS Oz to do some liscensed work - dunno what happened since then
hellfish6 7 Posted February 9, 2004 Maybe this Caucasus Crisis mod is that rumored expansion for later this year. Maybe someone should ask BIS. I did the last community interview with Suma, now it's some else's turn.
CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 9, 2004 A licensed expansion this late in the game's career. I doubt that.
Messiah 2 Posted February 9, 2004 indeed... but it wasn't Caucasus Crisis that i knew of... but anyways... it would seem strange that for a release of OFP 2 late this year or early next year, they would release something.... but who knows, unlikely Suma would comment
drow 0 Posted February 9, 2004 childlish speculations that you`ll have to pay for their mod all though they said many times that it`s not the case, but I guess they`ll have the final word when they will realese the long awaited demo.Really can`t wait... hehe this was said by Capone (CCM mod leader on their forums): Quote[/b] ] На халяву может отдадим только дему, а всё остальное будет лицензионным дополнением к ОФП. which means Quote[/b] ] For free we'll MAYBE give the demo, but the rest will be licenced commercial expansion that pisses me off personally, look at all the work out there thats just as good, noone is charging money to play their mods... this is complete and utter crap. I hate mods who think its their right to charge for their creations... this is a MOD community, not a marketplace, your shit is free the minute you release it, or make it for that matter... its BIS's property. Creative property copyrights can only go so far, and anything made on this medium is owned by BIS... as far as I know. Besides, do you really want noone to play your mod, all your hard work, because you want us to pay for it... i would rather play CWC than pay some greedy prick for his mod, not that im cheap, or that its not worth it, but just due to the principle, who are you to charge for your work when we all must work for free, or for the gratification of community feedback alone... CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 9, 2004 Out of any game/mod communities in the past that I have been in, I have yet to see anyone actually make money off an older game by doing a 3rd party mod/TC. CounterStrike being the exception. I played that since beta 1 and was amazed how well that took off. I remember it being hard to even find a multi game way back at one point. WhoCares 0 Posted February 9, 2004 this was said by Capone (CCM mod leader on their forums):<table border="0" align="center" width="95%" cellpadding="0" cellspacing="0"><tr><td>Code Sample </td></tr><tr><td id="CODE"> На халяву может отдадим только дему, а всё остальное будет лицензионным дополнением к ОФП. which means Quote[/b] ] For free we'll MAYBE give the demo, but the rest will be licenced commercial expansion I find the way he said that interesting. I wonder whether I could have a little binary coded discussion with him. You know, there are only 10 kinds of people on earth, those that understand binary and the others. PS: Edited the quote to a code snippet, so that you can see what I get reading this quote... PPS: I know that this is no binary code.
void_false 1 Posted February 9, 2004 As far as i know, disks in Belarus cost 2 bucks (im originaly from Belarus, if you interested - visit http://www.vitebsk.com). i dont think that in russia it is something else. people take money for disk itself but not for software on it. Also most of ppl in Russia(and Belarus as well) use 56k modem, so image how much time they will d\l MOD So they just will go and buy themselves a disk
drow 0 Posted February 9, 2004 Paying for shipping and the disc is quite different than paying for the mod.
soul_assassin 1750 Posted February 9, 2004 sorry for the binary, the forum doesnt understand russian, but im not making this up, its been discussed many times over. about disc and shipment cost, you misunderstand, if only the distributers would get the money for the discs (which are btw illegal, its just that noone cares) i think that would be tolerable, however the mod will be a percentage cut off every cd sold. Which I think is disgusting. But whatever....
CanadianTerror 0 Posted February 9, 2004 I havent seen binary since I took it in high school in 1986. Â Yuck. EDIT: On an Apple IIC no less.
AKM 0 Posted February 9, 2004 There's a difference then. If you're forcing us to pay for the privlege to download it, then your work will be heavily pirated. BUT If you are paying for the disk, the trouble of burning CCM to the disk, and then paying for the shipping it out to the end-consumer, then Yes, I can understand being payed for that service. I suspect those with 56K modems and slower internet connections will take advantage of that. And I somehow doubt that CCM is the latest for the Flashpoint series. desantnik 0 Posted March 5, 2004 hey I am sure they dont care too much what happens in the states... and they are in Russia afterall.... which means they're pretty much invincible from court for a small bribe to the local militia...
